I smiled because I woke up at 4:30 AM instead 5:30 AM for my morning run and I realised that two hours later |

... we are adopting our foster Labrador because she ran away from her gun test after the second shot. While she has passed her guide dog test, her school cannot risk that she might run away from the sight-impaired person at the sound of firecrackers or gunshots. (One friend calls her a peacenik!)
The dog and I will enroll in a training class to become a Social Dog team to offer pet therapy to community institutions, including homes for the aged, hospitals and prisons. I have found my vocation in Switzerland at long last.

I smiled because I woke up to the most magnificent hoar frost, followed by beautiful sunshine.

Yesterday a columist from that press wrote an article about disabled people and how pathetic it is that people finds it normal to "send" disabled children to a "storage".
My sister is disabled and goes to school for kids with special needs, and she is happy there. I know for sure that if if she would go to a normal school, like the columist thinks she should, she would be a primary target for bullies. She has now friends with kids that don't make fun of her but treat her as equal, and she deserves that. If it ain't broken, why fix it?
The article is just about my experience as a sister of a disabled child. Somewhat in this style.
730 likes so far and many lovely messages via facebook from complete strangers Not bad. I have even a bigger smile now than before! |

That columnist probably doesn't know what she/he is talking about (every case could be different though with the degree of disability and circumstances). Your mum is indeed brave and you're such a loving sister who is also realistic.

She and many other like the idea that everyone can be friends, no-one needs to go to a special school, etc, etc. It's a nice idea, but IMO not realistic and not working. Kids have no mercy, this we all know. I don't want to have my sister fried by classmates. She's happy in her school, and that all there is. If it ain't broken - please don't try to fix it.
