Re: I smiled because...

because I had a gorgeous day.

I had lunch with an acquaintance who is fast turning into a friend, came home to a gift in my letterbox from my friend in San Francisco (a knit your own puppy book) and then had another gorgeous friend gift me with a gluten free pumpkin pie! Feel absolutely spoilt and it's not even my birthday.

Whatever I did in a previous life, it must have been goooood

Re: I smiled because...

I was inexplicably grumpy all day, but cheered up on the train home as I saw the snowclad slopes of Fronalpstock glittering in the sun.

Had a brief moment of despondency half an hour later as I realised that I'd just acquired a loyalty card to a garden centre, but cheered up when I saw the price of Budvar Budweiser in Denner.

Cheered up even more when I found cheese and chilli Pringles in the same shop, and cheered up almost to bursting when I returned home with beer, Pringles and lovely wife, to sit and look at the last of the sun on the mountains.

It's a lovely life, isn't it?

I smiled a HUGE smile because...

...I just remembered that 1) I'm in CH, not UK just now, and 2) we went into DST last weekend, so the answer to that all-important question is...

Have a good weekend, all!

Re: I smiled because...

I'm still smiling after my escapade yesterday.
I stumbled upon the 50% off day at the Salvation Army store, bought two gorgeous pieces of furniture that I can't wait to sand back and paint. I organised to have them delivered and was advised they were coming straight away ...
Then the delivery man, discovering I was about to frantically attempt to hail a taxi so I could beat him home, put his mate in the back of the truck and gave me a lift

Re: I smiled because...

Further to my previous post, I'm smiling because:

  • Denner sells Budweiser Budvar in packs of 24 cans;
  • The wifi corpuscles travel even as far as the balcony;
  • Fronalpstock is looking gorgeous in the setting sun;
  • I've got Faros 92.7 FM on the internet radio; and
  • I'm having siedfleisch salmon for dinner.
I apologise profusely for sounding smug, but I'm from Cannock. People from Cannock aren't supposed to be as happy as this.

Re: I smiled because...

hahaha. i know!

another smile. unfortunately, my hubby's uncle is dying- not much time left. obviously, this doesnt make me smile, but his mama is very upset for obvious reasons and because it's her last sibling alive . when i told my own mother about this, she said- tell her that she still has a sister who loves and adores her here in new york, she's never alone in this world...how do mothers always know the most beautiful things to say and do?

My son came home today after cycling the North Sea route through France,Belgium, Holland.

He cycled the whole route with a broken wrist and I have been frantic with worry but said he wanted to be with me on Mothering Sunday...

It was soooooooo lovely today and hearing the playful squeals of laughter and joy of the kiddies playing outside was a real delight. I might've joined in if I had the time.
