Spellbound has become a little unpopular
Re: I smiled because...

The owner of my apartment brought me some apples as a gift
He also fixed a broken light fitting and heater

The kindness of a stranger - someone on EF gave me a cable to fix my printer

I completed a very hard 4 day snow-shoe hike of Jungfraujoch in extreme weather and altitude

Making halva and sesame oil for the first time

Listening to Young the Giant, The Antlers, Tom Waits and David Bowie

Re: I smiled because...

... because our resident kestrels have returned - and this year are nesting in an old fir tree very close to our patio - yesterday they were mating regularly, and the male brought 'presents' several times to the female (I'm afraid we will just have to accept that our other resident birds will sometimes be the 'presents')- what a privilege to be so close

The red kites and buzzards are also back in large numbers and the courtship flights are amazing to watch

I stayed in a hotel in Wengen over the Easter weekend and on Easter Sunday they gave all the guests a chocolate egg as present at breakfast!

... because it is so warm and sunny and all the trees are greening up, the flower beds full of colour .. and bees, and the bird song so melodious

Re: I smiled because...

Because of a sunny day, because the pool is ready (but too cold right now)
and mainly because my brother has found a new job after 3 years of unemployment.
He goes from a jewerely to a watchmaker.

Because...
...our very own Wollishofener has opened bathing suit season at our local lake
...I was overtaking by a guy twice my age on my run - you go, man!
...I was able to run
...there is a cat who actually waits for me to come back from my runs because it knows that I will play with it
