Re: I smiled because...

I smiled ´cause sometimes when I read in English, some verbs (false cognates) let me in confusion!!! for example: to intend and to pretend - these verbs have opposite means in Portuguese.
I´ve a list of false cognates, but I´ve got attention not to be in confusion

Re: I smiled because...

I remember one day that I needed to do a composition which the theme was about overcoming! for an examen and that day I was so bad, terribly sad. I wouldn´t imagine how a thing like that could put me in that situation.

We saved a giant, 3inch hairy spider that found his way to our apartment. I bet he is happy, alive and already scouting out his new home in a little nature patch we have next to our place.

Re: I smiled because...

I am smiling because this thread is still going strong. Sometimes I like to dip in and see what made others smile, because that makes me smile too. And even though it's a rainy, cold Sunday that I will have to spend cramming for an exam that I am not feeling too confident about, I have a smile on my face because it's a privilege to have the opportunity to finally get the qualifications I should have aimed for long ago.

Quote:
[...]And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Oh, I am not gonna fish him out of the bushes now, glad he is planted there and hope he won't find his way back

He was pretty, though, and I was glad we aren't too bothered by beasts to flip out or scream.

Kittster, good luck cramming, virtual study group for me as well, but I am writing so not as stressful. At least the weather sucks, not tempting us to get out too much. So, dissertation it is this weekend, arts and crafts and some light and creative cooking.

Smiles to all bookworms!

Because of the gym endorphins. Mixed with the spring, with writing going well, so many things are panning out..Or is it because of Monday? I love Mondays.

Re: I smiled because...

I smiled because sometimes the change in behavior might be hard to notice yet the little smiles given away by students, pensive looks and improving grades give away that there has been a lot of growing up.

Re: I smiled because...

A lovely familiar stranger complimented me on my parenting and ultimately Lil Dude and his really good manners.
I feel like I beat my head against a wall sometimes but my son is going to learn good manners if it kills me. Her compliment could not have come at a better time as we have had some really trying days.

Re: I smiled because...

Because I had been ruminating over a text I need to publish asap. It'd been ripening..I prepped, mind-mapped, reviewed lit, went to a conf for the same issue I am writing about. I was too busy with work and life, thought about it too much. And then I wrote the whole damn thing in one day, it's almost finished. Victory dance. Triumphant mood. I am tired but focused and thrilled.
