Re: I smiled because...

To make a better day is when riding a bike under the rain at 11:30 p.m. with an enormous traffic jam after an entire day between work and study, you think in great classic musics: What a wonderful world or Dancing.. Its just to arrive at home to drink something too hot.

Re: I smiled because...

When you read Beetle Bailey and hes his famous phrase: "Never let to tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow". And how about the Sgt. Orville Snorkel? So good memories when I read it, in Portuguese of course..

Beetle Bailey = Recruta Zero
St. Orville Snorkel = Sargento Tainha

This is a part of american literature! Right?

... because I had to run up to the barn to open that special little window, as I saw some house martins fluttering around trying to get to their nests- just arrived from AFrica. Welcome liitle ones- hopefully your cousins the swallows will be here soon too

The opening is only about 40cm x 40- and watching them dash in and out at massive speeds will entertain us all Summer, merci x

I smile because everyday is a gift. I smile because I get this amazing opportunity to live abroad and experience life to the fullest-learning, growing and bravely taking on the Swiss culture. Life is for living and we are among the very fortunate to be able to travel this amazing place call plant Earth. I smile because I choose to live with a smile and embrace the life I have. Wishing you a smile today! Unwrap your world today and be amazed.

Re: I smiled because...

**my family enjoyed a pretty train ride from Nyon to Zug on Saturday. We got to ride the Zugerbergbahn funicular to the top and enjoyed a beautiful view of the lake.**(Wished Lil Dude wasn't running out of steam as I would have LOVED to spend more time there walking about!) Said hello to the cows, watched a hawk catch lunch (some sort of mouse/mole), watched a neat looking snail cross a path, and viewed a field kitty stalking something in the grass. If only we had had a dog with us.......... (sigh)

Yesterday evening my hedgehog friend made an appearance in my yard again so I am thinking he/she may now be a permanent resident.

Beautiful weather here today and the last day of Lil Dude being home from school/Spring break.

** My better half mentioned to a co-worker that we were headed to Zug. The co-worker's response was why Zug? Granted I haven't been out and about that much in Switzerland but I have to say my response is why not? It was a pretty place. I felt it was very different than the French side where I live and I hope that we will get a chance to go back ad explore more. I feel like the tourism office needs to have a slogan like, " Don't give Zug a shrug. Check it out and explore! Not just a lake.... so much more!"

Yesterday I played tennis with my hubby and lost so badly that he had to take me to McDonald's to cheer me up.

OMG, poor you!

I can't even begin to imagine how low you must have been for that to be an improvement.

How do you know they were African house martins? This is just another example of a fundamentally racist assumption.

Did you forget how to use the multiquote function or are you just creating work for your fellow mods when they have to come along later and merge them?

Re: I smiled because...

I walk past a couple of apartment buildings on my way to the train station and one of them has a lot of random flowers in the yard this year - almost as if someone dropped a few packets of flower seeds randomly. Last Friday I noticed the flowers and the grass were getting tall. Today I noticed that the lawn had been meticulously mowed...leaving every little patch of flowers untouched.
