Re: I smiled because...

Seems like I need stronger glasses bc I read "I smelled, because" Regardless of my eyesight, my answer is the same for both options: because the roses are finally blooming

Re: I smiled because...

Because when I was coming from the gym, the air smelled like lečo outside.

The amazing mix of paprika, tomatoes, onions, herbs, meat and eggs..the odour of my childhood, it was everywhere, playgrounds, houses, workplaces. Lečo it is, tonight! Just gotta scoot to Denner for the right kind of peppers.

Re: I smiled because...

because I think about many exercises to prepare in french, sometimes I do it in funny way. It´s a different mode to teach, just for smiling.. Three things for the professional life: love to do, a great material to teach and have someone that adore it.

Because I woke up so early even if I shouldn't, and the day is so young. I love the feeling, I've got so much time to do all the things I have planned for today.

Re: I smiled because...

I've stayed outside all this sunday morning under the tree. Many ants attacked me, so it wasn't easy to study there. I've accepted them borring me 'cause I was in their territory and i found some ideas for me about my studies

Re: I smiled because...

I bought my daughter a new combination lock for her bike - one where you can set a code of your choosing. It's 4 reels/digits, each 0-9, which gives 10*4 (10,000), different combinations.

We decided upon a number, that she would easily remember, so I followed the instructions, set the number, closed the lock and rotated the reels.

Now the good bit - selected the chosen number ....... but it wouldn't open. Bloody lock's faulty, waste of money, that's going straight back for a refund.

However - now I think - I subconsciously remember that one of the numbers wasn't what I selected when I closed it - maybe I accidentally rotated some or all of the dials as I was closing it to confirm the code - but which ones and by how many?

So as I sat watching tele I rotated each dial both sides of the chosen digit, gently pulling the sides apart, to feel if there was any 'give'.

Only another, 9,950 different variations to try.

Whether, by luck, judgement or just good karma, I somehow fluked the correct combination and got it to open.

The first two numbers were as chosen, but the next one was +4 out and the last was -1 ..... bloody fuddle fingers. But like I wrote, I had no way of knowing which were incorrect and by how many, when I started.

Lock is now carefully reset and works a treat.

I smiled because my daughter came home from school yesterday after getting end of year exam results and DIDN'T throw herself on her bed in floods of tears (like last year....). Leaving aside the D in science, all was good (and its at least one grade up from the F i got in maths all those years ago)

Re: I smiled because...

I smile because transitions are hard, but we find comfort in each other whether it is an old friend through a distance and I can skype them and see their faces and laugh together, or new friend supporting the transitions. You learn real friendship when you are an expat. This thread is cute.

I smile when I see the sunshine

Re: I smiled because...

I got woken up in the night by a loud slurping noise coming from the garden.
When I looked out of the window I saw a fox and her two cubs drinking loudly from our pond.
That was actually worth being woken up at 2 am for.
