| | I smiled because...
Ok, there seems to be quite a few threads about various disadvantages about so I'm going to be sickeningly cute and cuddly and suggest a thread where you can all tell us about the last thing that made you smile and maybe make others smile too. It's not all bad and life is absolutely too short. Go out, play in the sunshine, feed some ducks, smell the flowers and so on. Then, tell us about what made you smile.
And the last thing that made me smile is stumbling upon my reputation and seeing the lovely comments people took the trouble to make. Thank you!

I smiled because my little boy, who has recently decided that sleeping at night is only for wimps and has been driving us crazy with sleep deprivation, suddenly gave me a big wave and blew a load of kisses at me from the window of his daycare as I left for work this morning.
OK, so maybe we won't put him on Ebay now... | The following 3 users would like to thank for this useful post: | |

Actually, the (past several) sunny days, feeding the ducks, admiring the flowers and green pastures and getting together with friends yesterday have all made me smile. I am hoping that all this nice weather will be a foregleam of a nice summer to come (last year's was a disappointment). |

The other day emerged from my front door to see a butterfly fluttering down the street, and there was a young sparrow on a fence chirping for all it was worth. With the advent of the sunny weather people are talking and laughing a lot more than usual in the street outside. Sitting outside a pavement cafe and watching life go by is always pleasant.

I used to set a relativel high standard for myself.
Now I couldn't care less, and I smile at simple achievements and ordinary things which should not be taken for granted.

I smiled today when my 2.5 year old daughter was playing with playdough. She dropped some on the floor and I said "oops" and she replied with an "Entshuldigung!" That's the first German word she's said without us prompting her to say it! |

Here are several positive things from the last few days
- being able to cycle to and from school with the kids in the sunshine
- playing shops with my 4yo this morning and she wanted to charge me CHF 50 for a beach ball
- a meeting yesterday about a school festival turned into a marathon chat between a bunch of Aussies, which was very enjoyable
cheers

... today a person from the Guide Dog School came to inspect my flat and talk to me about my application to be a Puppy Walker (someone who cares for and socialises a puppy before it goes for professional training to be a Seeing-Eye Dog).
He told me blind persons are not obligated by law to pick up their Guide Dog's faeces but many of them want to learn how to do it anyway.
For those who love dogs and are interested in a 12-15-month commitment in social service, do have a look here: http://www.blindenhundeschule.ch/htm...illkommen.html |

Doing 360es over the Jet d'Eau, being cleared Golf Echo, Golf November and turning hard into the groove for the grass runway for a superb three-wire on a brilliant blue sky day.

.....I was pickin up some classic hifi equipment and when I arrived the seller told me in all seriousness (as only the swiss can convey) there was a problem with it that I should know about. He had had to lubricate a potentiometer.....in 1992.

I am smiling now because a colleague whom I hadn't seen for a while, just walked over to me and gave me a big hug, only because we'd not seen each other for a while.

I find myself smiling most of the time, and more than before.
I am enjoying my life here in Zürich even in despite of the lack of some things I consider very important.
But I think I am reaching a goal I set to me way back.
Understand that happyness doesn't exist but the search for happyness. And learn to enjoy every moment of that search.
In other words, learn to enjoy the present and all you have right now, and not to be yearning for what you lost or what you don't have yet.

I'm smiling because I have an opened can of beer and 5 more in the freezer, it is Mr Man's turn to cook the dinner and I got a spanking new pack of Marlboro to begin , and as if that wasn't enough, I've a new book to read and, yet more, BBC3 AND some ITV has appeared on the telly
