Issue is a bit how you would handle this all with one rail track.
Something like this would probably solve that. The only problem could be that by the time you have found your carriage you could be half way up Rigi

I don't know man. But I think this is very racist.
It's just like the time where people divided white American and African American in different section of the bus 100 years ago.
With this segregation idea, people are definitely going backwards.

But not separate areas for smokers away from everyone else in outside seating areas of restaurants and at badis etc?

They're nothing new in other countries.

I don't know what all the fuss is about?

Smoking is a choice and passive smoking a health hazard. Race, skin color, gender aren't choices.

No one is saying the Asians can't use the other carriages.

Re: Rigi's trains for Chinese tourists

Reading some of the reviews on accommodation and restaurants in the Swiss Alps recently, the reason why a lot of American and European tourists are now staying away from Switzerland is not because of the habits of the Chinese but because they find the food and accommodation, mediocre yet eye-wateringly expensive. A lot of them are used to smoke-free dining find the habits of the chain-smoking Swiss off-putting.
The Chinese, a nation of smokers don't find this a problem.

I say the Swiss should be extremely thankful to the Asians as without them, the Swiss tourist industry really would be down the pan.

it's because of people like you that the term racist has absolutely no value anymore. like, what term would you put on killing people because of their skin color if you call trivial shit like this "very racist"?

i mean, i understand that you put a life sentence on homicide. but if you put life in prison on jaywalking as well it all becomes rather meaningless and the effect of penalizing actual bad things is gone.

the fact that you see racism in everything means you have to be very racist yourself. you are the one that keeps racism alive. not the person that you and your buddies call racist simply because that person is white and looks funny at a black person.

ffs. it's getting to the point that being called a racist is a compliment. simply because it separates one from lazy thinkers like you.

You can have one if you ask nicely and pay the money.

Anybody can hire a private train.

This is exactly what tour operators are doing.

Cynically you can call that a train for only Chinese, but that's ultimately what it is. If a tour operator was running a special for left handed Aargauers and reserved a train for them, then the train carriage would be reserved for left-handed Aargauers.

In the other news Easyjet is discriminating by providing special planes only for Easyjet ticket holders. Let's boycott them shall we?

I did that once - it wasn't particularly expensive. But you do need to pay to keep a platform open too if it's not in use during the time that you want your train.

Fora has become a little unpopular
Re: Rigi's trains for Chinese tourists

I have heard directly from some Swiss people that they do not like the Chinese tourists and it is a shame that this "service" will send a wrong message. As has been mentioned, at a time where many tourists are staying away from Switzerland just through hotel prices (and I canīt blame them), this is still a group of tourists that not only visits, but also shops in Switzerland. The pushing and often crammed groups I think are reflections of a country where personal space is a physical and conceptual luxury and not something people are used to. As for the spitting, sigh, yes, not even long-term foreign residents can get used to this habit. And the distinction needs to be made within Chinese tourists: young urban educated tourists would usually travel in smaller groups and often independently, and have had more contact with Western culture and for example appreciate that in Western countries spitting is a nono. As the article in French suggests, the larger groups who are louder and behave "unacceptably" are often from probably smaller cities, not as exposed to international travel/customs, and for them this might be the first time exploring the world. It is a shame those who complain about them cannot see this as a positive result of more freedom and changing times and new opportunities for a huge number of people in China. But to be honest, I donīt find them louder than say the groups of highly enthusiastic Swiss tourists who descend on the city for a visit and eagerly comment every single thing in their most perfect Swiss German; on long train journeys I am not sure which group Iīd go for...

(And I donīt think Iīm yet allowed to groan at people, but the slanted eyes comment in the forum is out of place).

You are funny. Go back to school and learn about what took place only about 50 years ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_Civil_Rights_Movement, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964.

Well, legally at least. Don't speak about what currently still takes place. And ask your parents, they should know.

Though I doubt that some schools will tell it the right way.

Thankfully, there are many more spectacular routes around Rigi where the hordes of tourists never go.
