Alarmist nonsense. If it's come apart easily enough and you haven't disconnected anything it should be perfectly safe as long as it goes back together securely.
Ace - based on the fact that this person even asked whether you could replace the plug on this suggests that any advice should be on the alarmist side rather than the sensible and "common sense" side of the fence... just sayin'

(Never mind the first response to the OP... I kinda wonder if it shouldn't be deleted as a safety measure!)

Agreed, replacing the power unit is the best solution. Buy one in Switzerland, as there are many poor quality devices offered on the Internet, that have never been tested in a European laboratory. Look for the CE symbol on the plastic!

.
CE is self certification rather than actually tested ........... Can also mean China Export!

Re: Change UK plug of ipod dock...

Wow...didn't expect this many replies! :P Thanks everyone.

Anyway, this is an old ipod dock I've had for about 6 years, I'm not too bothered about it.

To open the plug, I just levered it open with a screwdriver... there was some adhesive holding it together that eventually gave out and I can't see any physical damage but anyway...I'll probably end up just throwing it out :P.

OP, I would like to apologise to you. It just looked like a normal plug to me when I first glanced at it. I think it was pretty clear I had no idea what I was talking about when I openly admitted that soon afterward.
