Any recomendations for ways to learn German online for free?

I am looking for interactive app, or something challenging ways to learn German online. So far, I am taking courses from Duolingo (free) and babbel (trial version).

I would like to know, if based on your experience you could recommend anything similar to learn German rapidly.

Re: Any recomendations for ways to learn German online for free?

Thanks, I tried them. I found the first one to be tough. I choose the beginner step, and all it did was me a sentences in German, which I have no clue of. The second and third are basic click-sound apps.

I am looking for duolingo/babbel type, it is very modern and has many interactive tools. You can also save and continue your progress.

I am looking for those. I don't mind if is web-based only.
Thanks for the help anyway.

Some sort of flashcard tool is a good thing to add to the mix. I have gotten some benefit from Quizlet and Memrise on my phone, and Anki on my computer.

Memrise is the common add-on or alternative to Duolingo. It is similar but can operate differently enough to be useful or to split people's preferences. A little bit more customizable than Duo...

Thanks @Curran919 @TheNobleSunfish Memrise was really what I was looking for.

@manwithnoname well, nothing is wrong with them. But I am too greedy, so I want them all

Well, I have been using Duolingo too and though it is tremendously useful, it also restricts your mind from thinking beyond translations. I generally first think of the sentence in English and then translate it in my mind and speak the corresponding sentence in German. Takes a bit of time

I suggest you read some Kindergarten German books or German short stories which are really useful in adding regular words to your vocabulary. Google them and you'll find many on-line for free (I have)
Hans Wilhelm's books are available online as well (http://www.childrensbooksforever.com...s/German1.html) They are picture books meant for kids but hey, they help to learn

Happy learning
