Re: zollrechung from FedEx

Looks like the law will be changed from next year- so that Amazon will have to include VAT in the price.

@maypril
The Amzon Global price (including importation cost) you see is the price you pay no further hidden fees no later bills. Tested many times. Nice that they now even offer free Standard Delivery above a certain value.

Note: May not work with books.

I thought they already did. But upon closer inspection it is only when total price incurs more than CHF 5 VAT owned. Sneaky.

And it does not work with books. If you order books for more than CHF 250 you will still get an extra import bill.

jamie, are you saying that you still pay "extra" even with AmazonGlobal? What I mean by extra is the fee charged by anybody else except Amazon. Thanks.
No I've never had to pay any extra fees for anything when using Amazon global. I usually end up getting a small amount back as they have taken too much.
Amazon removes the VAT ( German, French or UK depending on where you order from) and pays the Swiss VAT for you so there are no nasty surprises.

Re: zollrechung from FedEx

Paying 30 CHF to DHL on an 107 CHF package from France with 8 page paperwork

Below explanation:

DEU http://www.dhl.ch/de/express/zollabw..._services.html

ENG http://www.dhl.ch/en/express/customs...customers.html click on no. 13

For DHL ECONOMY SELECT shipments, the customs clearance fee is calculated as follows:
Informal clearance costs CHF 19.00 (goods value < CHF 1,000 / weight < 1,000kg / no ancillary laws) I guess these are the 8 pages

Formal clearance costs CHF 39.50 (goods value > CHF 1,000 / weight > 1,000kg / ancillary laws).

Re: zollrechung from FedEx

It seems that clearance fees applied by the Swiss Post are more reasonable: 11.50 for Germany, France, Italy and Austria and 16 CHF for the other countries.

If you are receiving gift packages from abroad and the value of the goods are < 100 CHF and marked as gifts on the declaration form, then you don't have to pay and duties/taxes.

Thanks, but when you buy something online it will not be delivered as a gift, and the website did not give the delivery by post as an option.
