Here bags are not that cheap. | | | | | I'm not offending (offended?). You took a risk and it didn't pay off, oh well.
Yes, in my opinion, the people are either:
a) Criminal (a bit harsh, let's say guilty), because they knew they were importing a fake.
b) Stupid because they thought you could get a Luxury item for the price of 2 Big Mac meals.
You can choose whichever you wish to be. I do think you should be fined either way though, ignorance isn't really an excuse here. I'm going to give you the benefit and say a), because you realise the bags are $1000s here and tried to get a fake one for $25 anyway.

Here bags are not that cheap. | | | | | The last link is clearly selling fake bags. I particularly liked this from their site | Quote:
The Louis Vuitton label was founded by Vuitton in 1854 on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, France. Louis Vuitton had observed that the HJ Cave Osilite trunk could be easily stacked and in 1858, Vuitton introduced his flat-bottom trunks with trianon canvas, making them lightweight and airtight. Before the introduction of Vuitton's trunks, rounded-top trunks were used, generally to promote water run off, and thus could not be stacked. It was Vuitton's gray Trianon canvas flat trunk that allowed the ability to stack with ease for voyages. Many other luggagemakers imitated LV's style and design.

Very quick enquiry, an original Speedy 30 LV bag costs 1500+ dollars
The same bag in Aliexpress [URL removed] costs 25-28 dollars.
Noticing something fishy in this does not require inner or outer sexual organs...
As I mentioned, counterfeit rules depend on each country. The origin of this fake article might not sanction it, there are countries were it is allowed to import it. But you live in one that does not. But again, you as the shopper need to be aware of your local rules. Not everything in the internet is legal/for real/advisable...

Let's just get back to the OP without the nastiness....
You've lost the bag, don't pay the 900 CHF just send a letter telling them that, you won't hear any more about it. You don't need to fight it so no need for a lawyer. Lesson learned and put it down to experience.

Sorry, but if you thought you were getting authentic Louis Vuitton bags for $25 inc shipping, you are either stupid or willfully ignorant. | | | | | Thing is, people are that stupid. My wife's sister bought Mont-Blanc pens for each of my kids. It didn't occur to her for one minute that 1/3 of the normal price indicated fakery. She just thought she was getting a good deal. This is a woman with a degree in business and another in law.
Educated, intelligent and really really stupid.
For the OP. The lawyer is saying if you send them the money, they won't sue you. He's relying on that being enough to get the money - if you don't pay, they're highly unlikely to both suing you.

1/3 price I could sort of believe, although I'd probably think at that value they were stolen, rather than counterfeit.
We are talking a discrepancy of 100x-200x RRP value with the LV merchandise though.

OP started by asking for advice on expected fine. Got a good answer and very favourable to the "huge fine" he expected. Then spent the next 5-7 posts disputing that advice. Topping this off with wisecracks.
Why do people come for advice when they have no intention of listening to it? Perplexing.

The offence is importing counterfeit goods.

| | Re: Bought a counterfeited bag, probably will get a huge fine | Quote: | | | | | Really? Then why they do not prosecute such online shops rather then the consumers? It is not consistent in this case, but it is easier.
A similar absurd law is in Italy. If you buy say a counterfeited bag from a street vendor and the police sees you, you get a fine. But the fact that there are street vendors everywhere selling around their illegal stuff is somehow accepted, as it is more challenging to prosecute them. | | | | | Really? I thought that was common knowledge. Why do you think it is absurd laws on the books that punish those that financially support crime?
