Anyone used posterjack.ch before???

After being bombarded with the adverts on swiss tv i thought i would check out posterjack.ch

Seems like a decent enough site, but just wondered if anyone here has used it before i fork out 160CHF for a huge 2m x 1.5m poster.

Also, one of the photos i will be enlarging and turning into a poster is black and white. I dont mean black grey and white, but 100% just black and white (if you know what i mean) and the site is telling me that the quality will be lost if i have a poster too big. But surely as its is just black and white (no grey etc...) it should not matter how big i have it?? Clarification appreciated!!

I have used posterjack before. The posters was of good quality for the two I ordered even though they said the quality will be lost. But the posters I ordered was not big as yours.

Re: Anyone used posterjack.ch before???

Hi

I Have not tried the site but I can tell you the quality of the final print has to do with the data supplied the printer (size, quality and type of the digital original) and if the proportions of the original are being changed. I will be at the lunch on Wednesday if you want to talk and I will check out the site as I have been thinking also about large prints since I have none of my printing equipment here.

Re: Anyone used posterjack.ch before???

Well this is the pic (attached below) that i want to get made into a giant poster. As its just black and white i cant see there being a problem quality wise no matter how big i get it printed.

There are other pic that i want done as big as possible but they are colour and therefore would like an expert to look at them and work out how large i can have it printed without losing too much quality, perhaps even add some fruity photoshop effects on it which hide certain elements enabling me to get them printed big.

We have big photos made into poster size (3 in all), and i enjoy looking at them everyday, and when people come to visit for the first time they always admire them, but they personal photos from our wedding day, and we had to buy frames with glass, it was expensive, but worth every penny. If you really love your poster then do it, and you can get really nice frames with glass from coop haus und booby stores for a good price, not to exensive

Re: Anyone used posterjack.ch before???

Hi

I have checked out both the Posterjack site and the site from Zürich XXLprint (I ironically actually wandered to his store during my walk in town today) Posterjack is upfront and correct in all that they say, if there is urgency you can use Posterjack. I personally like the options offered at XXLprint although I am not at all sure that they can do the size print you were thinking of (which I can't remember) most Canon and Epson commercial printers only go up to a 48 inch with (122 CM sorry) length is only determined by the size of the roll. Your photo might need the abilities of the Canon printers to do the black and white correctly.

Small correction: XXLprint.ch is not in Zürich. And you could not have walked into XXLprint.ch because it is a website.

You may have walked into a XL Canon Poster Store, which XXLprint.ch is as well

Thanks for the plug anyway

Re: Anyone used posterjack.ch before???

Hi Scott

The ignorance of the newbie making an incorrect connection, I normally use Various Matt or silk papers on my Epson 1280 and 2200 printers not wanting nor affording duplicate equipment setup on both sides of the Atlantic I am forced to use a Canon MP610 and glossy paper here. No hope of a sophisticated system here in CH no profiled Monitor (cheap company laptop no PS not even elements or lightroom) or calibrated system so I will be in need of specialized printing on occasion so thanks to Swiss Cheese's post I discovered you.

Good to read that the EF-Networking works again!

Can count on three hands the numbers of print jobs for EF members. Not many, but a real treat for me to handle a job in English

The website is in German and English. Even includes a "Print Price Calculator" -- type in your print size in cm and select the material -- Presto! You have the print price (without VAT & shipping).

If you, or anybody else has any questions... please do not hesitate to call me direct. Phone number on my post-signature or all my websites.

Hope to read or hear from you soon Blang!
