My partner always wants to celebrate the Chinese valentines day which is based on the lunar calendar, so I always forget when it is. Win-win!

I make steak and get her flowers.
I then expect to be waited on all evening and remind her that I got her flowers if she complains. (Talking bout grabbing me a beer or a snack , or small backrub )
No in all seriousness....wait....that is actually exactly what happens every time |

| | Re: What do guys want... Valentines Day | Quote: | | | | | Other than the obvious, are guys even interested in getting something on Valentines Day?
I get my OH special chocolate (sugar addict) and littles gifts when I see something he might like.
Have I been sucked into this Hallmark Holiday? Or should I do something?
Full Disclosure: I've been told I'm getting breakfast in bed. | | | | | What obvious?

I was going to say Valentines presents are meh.
But after seeing what that comic got for their 18th birthday, I'm rather jealous.
So to my enigmatic valentine out there: A nice big red firetruck would be sweet---with all the bells and whistles!

Im spending valentines night with a guy thats not my OH. At work
As for the day itself, i will probably get what i will give. Nothing. My OH doesnt see the point and im too cheap to ask for flowers that day.

. | | | | | I did that once in Romania - with a Latin American woman who was a work colleague. We were both working late out there.
Upon returning to our hotel after work, I asked the hotel receptionist to book us a table at a nearby restaurant.
"Ah, a romantic meal with your wife on Valentine's Day"replied the man behind reception.
"She's not my wife", I replied.
"Even better!" was his response.

I was shocked when I saw Clinton Cards in the UK selling cards with this on them...

this gives me an opportunity to boast about my 2 year old son whose birthday is Feb 14th! yes, as soon as he's old enough to be inviting some fancy girl out on Valentines day he can break the ice with "and you'll never guess what, its my birthday!". Thats going to be at least a quick feel from even the most reclusive of girls and he could easily end up with the jackpot.

One year I surprised mine with a water bottle he'd been searching everywhere for. I cut up little hearts and put them inside with a note and hid it in his work bag to find. This year I splurged and got him a new Kindle because he's sad his 4y old one just broke.
I don't always get him something, but if I know something he wants or needs that means a lot to him, then I surprise him. And he doesn't always get something for me because sometimes we are apart on V-day, but it's nice to celebrate the day.
