| | What do guys want... Valentines Day
Other than the obvious, are guys even interested in getting something on Valentines Day?
I get my OH special chocolate (sugar addict) and littles gifts when I see something he might like.
Have I been sucked into this Hallmark Holiday? Or should I do something?
Full Disclosure: I've been told I'm getting breakfast in bed.

Most men look at February 14th as a special day for ladies. However many men expect the ladies to remember March 14th as a special day for them.

Haven't decided what to get him yet, but he's not getting what he wants.
Grey hair and a Minions backpack is just wrong on so many levels.

For most men, Valentine's day is for the woman in your life and has nothing to do with the man - that's just something that women tell themselves so they don't feel egotistical about it. It's like saying that weddings are equally for both the bride and groom. Right.
Don't bother with Valentine's for your other half. Wait a month and celebrate the reciprocal date for men, instead, for him.

My Swiss boyfriend makes a lot of noise about how V Day is a commercial holiday, blah blah, and how he doesn't think he should be forced into being romantic or us exchanging gifts just because.
He even specifically told me "do not send me flowers." Which I think is is nuts (who doesn't like receiving flowers?!!) and wonder if he has a heart made out of Swiss cheese. ;-)
I'm still planning on getting him a small gift (but no flowers!! oh no!!) and a card telling him how much I love him. Even though I tell him all the time, anyhow, I think it's fun to participate in the holiday.
So to answer your thread: I'm a (gay) guy and I like the holiday. My boyfriend is a (gay) guy and thinks it's all b.s. :-)

If he wants grey hair, get him to drop me a message offline - he can have mine! I'll even throw in the beard for a small surcharge.

Best Valentine's 'gifts' I ever had were when I was 19 and both of us were unemployed. He made me heart shaped cheese on toast for breakfast, then spent hours cutting potatoes into heart shaped chips for dinner (served with curried beans).

Personally I don't think that men in general 'expect' a Valentine's gift, but at the risk of stating the obvious, don't buy him anything, but instead set up whatever your man would like in the way of sex, but may be afraid to ask.

Hubs and I are contrary people who refuse to acknowledge Valentines day because we don't like cultural and marketing forces telling us when and how to celebrate each other. Also, the expectations surrounding SVD are unromantic IMO. My hubby, however, does love his favourite things cooked for him, a small treat (choc or baked goody) or an unsolicited back rub occasionally - "just because".

The most memorable way to a guy's heart on Valentine's Day is to be more naughty in bed than usual and fulfill his naughtiest expectations. In other words, s... or f... the living light / brains out of him on that day. He will always remember and come back for more each year.

I still don't understand my bf wanting to completely ignore the holiday and do nothing. A backrub, a note card, just a small something... eh maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic. ;-)

It's a fake import from the UK/US just like Halloween. I feel the exact same about it but buy the wife some flowers as she buys into the marketing crap.
