That depends on the insurance company. For some it's up to age five, some age 7 and some as young as 2 or 3.
If you want to sign them up for dental insurance after the cut off age for the insurer you need to provide them with a report from a dentist.
Any idea on Helsana's policy on this. I will be returning to Switzerland 1 week before my daughter's 4th birthday. I'm wondering if I'll be able to apply on time...

Re: What is the estimated cost of treatment for uneven & misaligned teeth?

To get a detailed cost breakdown of the treatment you would really need to see an Orthodontist. The cost will really depend on your case of treatment. There are quite a few treatment options, metal braces, clear braces, lingual braces (inside the mouth) and last Invisalign. Depending on how your teeth look and how much needs to be straightened (or if you will even need surgery) will really depend on the cost. Here in CH it could vary between Sfr. 4,000 and Sfr. 10,000+ also depending on where you live, and if you even have a treatment option, depending on what needs to be done, and what your expectations are (perfect / semi perfect etc.).

The OH has an insurance for the kids from Groupe Mutuel. This might be another option for some people.

Some aspects of the treatment for one of them was covered by LaMal since there was upper/lower jaw alignement to do before adjusting the actual teeth.

Re: What is the estimated cost of treatment for uneven & misaligned teeth?

I saw an article on a system that seems quite popular in the UK that might be of interest to some people. I am not sure if it is available in CH. Even if only in the UK with EasyJet flights you could probably do an in/out same day for not much money. I do not know about the cost but the interesting aspect was the speed they are promoting.

The product is called Inman Aligner.
