I always like to have a 'dumb' clock in the house so that I can confirm that the hours actually changed. Otherwise, I'm end up second-guessing it.

Exactly. I had to look at the oven clock to check all the computer/smart phone clocks.

As we usually never eat before 20h30, not much of a problem for us.

Re: Summer Time clock change

How about a cool analog watch, solar power, perpetual calendar until year 2100 ? No need to carry an USB charger/battery pack.

As the saying goes, daylight saving time is something we have to observe so farmers from around WW I are able to get their harvest in before dark.

No need top change the clocks, if I need to work during daylight hours then I work around the sun. If I want to film a sunrise, I have to get up early enough to do so

The farmers would be the first to let this nonsense go. Ever heard a stable full of cows complain at 5 p.m.?
And I vividly remember the disputes with my cat in the mornings

Usually people eat at around 6pm. And in Summer with daylight saving they eat at 5 pm. People are crazy! And the majority of humans eat to a regular time and when its 6 pm then they want to eat. They dont want to delay their eating one hour.

Eh? Speak for yourself. IME 8pm is much more 'usual' for most people.

I know that it wasn't the farmers, it's just the saying. And I know those struggles with our dogs too. But the one that struggles most is me. I'm a night owl anyway, but after the switch in spring I'm a total morning zombie for several weeks. Adapting to different time zones on both sides of the Atlantic does not bother me, but that one hour does.
