Family of boys refusing handshake with females applied for Swiss citizenship

The questions are (not mentioned in the article) how the children of this family could go back for some education in Syria while they were granted asylum b/c they were "refugees".
I think declining citizenship on a fuzzy grounds of "doesn't want to shake a hand" would be intolerant and against basic human rights.

Since when do basic human rights include granting of citizenship they have been granted the right to live in the country and there is no reason they need to be granted citizenship unless they can prove they deserve it which in this case they clearly dont in switzerland or elsewhere

Let's walk through this citizenship application of the two brothers:
Male Swiss citizens must serve in the military when they reach 18. Recruits are given automatic weapons which they take home ....

Are you implying that they migh be a potential security risk because they are Muslims?

“No one can force us to touch hands”, said one of them. The older one said “I learnt this rule watching a preacher on the internet. My father then confirmed it.”

Isn't that how radicalisation starts?

It would be on very specific grounds of not being well integrated or being a security risk. The family's application has been suspended as additional information is being sought. If the additional information is ok, then the application will continue.

It's funny that the younger kid says that he picked up this don't touch females rule from a sermon he heard online. Reminds me of people who - e.g. - don't vaccinate their kids because of what they've read on line. It seems gullibility and stupidity are a symbol of our common humanity.

In general a Muslim is higher security risk than a non believer due to the backward ideology towards kuffars they willingly follow. A son of radical Muslim preacher even more so.

Re: Family of boys refusing handshake with females applied for Swiss citizenship

Newspaper articles raise a number of concerns that might ultimately de-rail the family's citizenship:

1. The father has bankrupted one company and a second company was liquidated by the government due to regulatory non-compliance.
- It is not clear how the family finances itself.

2. The "older daughters" are back in Syria attending school although the father claims he was persecuted there and cannot return.
- The family's asylum claim in Switzerland may have been fabricated.

3. The father is an Imam at an ultra-radical Wahhibism religion mosque in Basel. The US government requested that the Swiss government close the mosque's bank accounts due to the source of its financing.
- The father and family may be a national security risk.

4. The teenagers may be supporters of IS, based on their Facebook page.
- The family may be a national security risk.

5. The father cannot adequately express himself in an official Swiss language.
- This suggests lack of integration.

Does anyone remember the case of the American professor? 99% of Efers were very enthusiastic about poor old unfriendly man being rejected Swiss citizenship...

I'll freshen up your memory...

Interesting point as citizens from certain countries are not allowed to get access to weapons, how would it work with people from banned countries and weapons in the military?
