Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

Hi there.
'Leimbach' is not exactly the centre of the universe, so half the folk on here will have no idea where it is and for chatting it is pretty irrelevant anyway. Daily Life is so full of new threads (half of which shouldn't be in there) that your thread slips into the depths of the Forum very rapidly. I'm sorry, but siitting in a corner and asking for a reply every couple of months will be unlikely to get you far.

Apart from what you have written on here, we have no idea of your circumstances. To 'like talking to people' sounds great in theory but is rather vague. As you've seen if you have been on here a lot, there are simply masses of new people and quite a lot of them are lonely and looking for companionship. Sure, you are at a disadvantage when you cannot get out, but many of those who meet up in real life, started getting to know each other by posting on here, maybe for months, and then realising they have common interests. I wasn't even looking on EF for friends, but found several good buddies whom I meet occasionally. Great fun.

To find 'friends' or 'companionship' on here you need to get your name recognised in that others see it regularly and notice that you have interesting ideas or are helpful. After a while you could maybe try PMing someone who seems to have something in common with you. To achieve all this you have to 'work' at it. Most of us do that without thinking about it at all. If you have time, you could start welcoming new members or looking stuff up for them. They ask so many repeat questions that anyone who is on here a lot has seen the answer here before. You don't have to know it all yourself but by searching you get to know where the stuff is hidden, both on here and on the other internet sites.

You have a dog. The doggie friends seem to enjoy themselves in Pet Corner. Take a look in there. A few admiring comments about someone's dog will perhaps break the ice.

Hope you can find folk to chat with, but it will certainly mean an effort on your part.

Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

And with no offense, I do not want to share my story here , I was hoping for priv messages, but I understand how it works

I am here every now and then

Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

Sure, I appreciate that you have no wish to tell us about your private life, but if you want folk to actually visit you to talk, you'll have to do more than just ask complete strangers on here.
Good luck anyway.

Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

Hello Lewa
mmm... not being able to sit at the pc very often... and not being able to get out of the house... I can really understand that those can be serious impedements to making contacts.

I'm not able to visit (over-committed elsewhere), but here are some ideas that might help you to open some doors.

1. When you say "chat" do you mean conversing in person when someone visits you, or do you mean online "chatting"?
2. Do you speak German?
3. Can you speak on a phone?
4. Can you send sms?
5. Can you ever leave the house... perhaps with special care or assistance?
6. Do you need visitors to take any special precautions or care, because of your medical conditions?
7. Do you have a skill or area of knowledge you'd be happy to share with others? For example: could you offer to practice English with them? Or would you be interested in teaching visitors anything else about which you know?
8. Do you have a particular hobby, even one you haven't done for ages, for example playing cards, Scrabble or chess, or knitting, sewing, model trains or jig-saw puzzles? Listening to music, woodworking, origami, Tai Chi, yoga, dying your hair, painting your nails, reading aloud or telling stories of the past (or listening while someone else does)? Would you be interested in someone doing this with you?
9. Is there some specific, practical area of daily living for which you'd be grateful if someone did it for you? For anyone offering voluntary help, it is easier if they know what the task is. Specific help could perhaps include: going shopping for you, or unpacking the groceries if you've ordered online, or teaching you how online shopping works (if you don't already know), or cooking a meal, or baking a cake in your kitchen (so you get that wonderful smell, too), or trimming back some plants, practicing your German.

I do understand that you're looking for company and conversation, rather than household help, yet sometimes that kind of socialising can develop out of what first starts off as a volunteer "job".

In general, it can be a good way of starting if the task is small, defined and happens only once or twice. This opens the way for more kinds of people, than if the task involved a pledge to do something every week.

Here is a link to the Leimbach reformed church:
http://www.kirche-leimbach.ch/conten...index_ger.html.
Scroll down and click on "Sekretariat" and mail there, asking is someone could visit you. You don't have to have any church affiliation to ask for a visit. In case you prefer to phone: 044 482 64 13.
I think their visiting service is free.

Here is pro infirmis, the organisation for people with a disability.
They offer "prisma", which is a careful programme to mix and match volunteers and people looking for help or contacts.
http://www.proinfirmis.ch/de/kantona...et/prisma.html
Prisma is free, except for any expenses the volunteer may have, e.g. bus-fare.

Here is sintegra, an organisation which aims to help those with a disability become or remain integrated in society. One of their services is to screen and train people with a disability pension who are mobile, to go an visit others who are not.
http://www.sintegra-zh.ch/index.php/betreuungsdienst
This service costs: http://www.sintegra-zh.ch/index.php/...angebot/kosten.
Some of the tasks might be regarded as nursing, so perhaps the medical insurance would pay. I'm not sure how this works.

Here is the Gemeinschaftszentum (community centre) in Leimbach.
http://www.gz-zh.ch/gz-leimbach/ueber-uns/?no_cache=1
Their activities take place on their premises. The staff in such centres often know many people who live in the area, and are generally well networked with other organisers of events and services nearby. It might be worth your while working you way through the list, and asking each one if he/she knows of someone who might like to visit you.

This is the coordinator of socio-cultural events in Leimbach.
https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/content...werpunkte.html
The same applies as above, with the Gemeinsschaftszentrum. He might be a good place to start, and might know someone who knows someone...

In all these cases, even if you can't read the German, you could try running their info through "google translate". Or you could simply write or phone in English. You might be told to call back on another day, when their English-speaking colleague is at work, but that's fair enough.

I hope that helps you to get started.

One more idea: if you already have medical care (a doctor, nurses, assistants) you could also ask those people if they happen to know of anyone who would just like to pratice their English, or any of your other skills along the lines of the suggestions above.

EDIT: Lewa, I've just seen your more recent post. PLEASE do not misunderstand me: I don't mean that you should share your personal story here, okay? All those questions in my post are NOT meant so that you should reveal your personal details in public. And you are right, this is a totally public forum. However, if you think through the questions, perhaps you'll find something in there which would enable you to approach people (perhaps through the links I posted) so that they have a better idea of areas in which to begin to establish a point of contat. Good luck!

Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

To the mods: I know Lewa has asked you to please close her thread. If possible, may it please stay open for a bit longer, in case anyone thinks of any more constructive ideas? Thanks.

To Lewa: Longbyt has been around (on the planet) for a while, and guided many people into really good solutions. She is a diligent, kind poster whom I respect. And occasionally she is a little strict. Longbyt repeatedly has many good ideas. Please don't snap closed or give up because you didn't quite like the way she posted, okay? Each of us here on the forum, who try to encourage others, is just offering suggestions. You might not like my offerings, either. Maybe some of them work for you, maybe some don't, and perhaps some ideas will become a springboard for completely different approaches.

I hope something works out for you.

Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

Thanks for the post, please remove the thread in few days, I really appreciate all the tips Dropfiz.
I gave this forum a chance again and this happened again , I went to goLocals at some stage, and they were very supportive,
Anyway , thanks DRopfiz, I have been in touch with the church, very nice people , but have no time anyway, thanks for all the tips :)

Re: Anyone from Leimbach and would like to chat ?

Okay, Lewa, I can see that you are trying. On this forum, threads are never removed. They can be closed, however, by the mods.

Although I am replying to you, specifically, for all posts it can be worth remembering that someone may come along later and find the info useful. And someone may still find you, and PM you.

Here is a list of clubs (Vereine) in Leimbach.
https://www.leimbach-zh.ch/index.php...wo/102-vereine

Perhaps you might find like interests through some of them.

On that list, I found the "Nachbarschaftshilfe" which is "neighbourhood help". This organisation mixes and matches locals, according to what they can offer and need.
http://nachbarschaftshilfe.ch.romulu...ontakt144.html
This service is free. It might be for members only, but joining won't cost a great deal.
