Maybe in Tessin yes where they have bad infrastructure and less spending.
Actually, Ticino is one of the few cantons that exports electricity to other cantons and countries.

In which post did I state that the power cuts were in Ticino?

Well, it does so seldom that when it happened a while ago I first searched the fault within my doings. Then called the landlord who told me the whole hamlet was off the net.
It was an interesting experience to notice at every turn how much in our lives is dependent on electricity.
Not even a cup of tea - the English solution to every problem - was possible.

I don't personally but I can well imagine that's how my grandparents got their first phone. You described that very nicely, thanks.

We did have a rotary dial phone though and it was orange! It was my then BF's favourite colour and it was blooming everywhere (the colour - as the phone was on a - looooooong - cable.)

I also remember the days being glued to the landline-phone, expecting that one, deeply longed for phone-call.
Now I keep the landline-no. to keep the scum off my handy.
The times they are a changing.
Actually donīt chuck the rotary phone away, apart from being collectors items you can hook them up to skype.
How cool would that be when visitors drop by?

Re: Only mobile phones, no more landline phones

too much technology these mobile phones are!

this is why I still use radios - have'em as back up for the family. Dont care about other people. All i need is a wire and i'm on the air.

I plan to get more long distance freqs - put a bigger antenna on the cars and bam i should have about 70 km radius - enough for the family. No need for grid electricity (car battery), no need for internet (antenna), off-the-grid. With digital voice can encrypt communications..all good. Forget mobile phones.

How are you encrypting digital voice signals with "Just a wire" and no electric grid?
