Dog in car in this heat

I've just seen a dog in a car in this heat! Waited around and 10 mins later the driver came back to it, there was no windows opened and I was waiting 5 more minutes before I was calling the police
Please people keep your pets safe in heat

Re: Dog in car in this heat

Did you say anything? Like you, if the dog isn't too distressed I'd wait 10 mins- but if the dog showed any sign of distress I'd call the police- and if need be, get something ready to leash him and break the window.

Re: Dog in car in this heat

It was lying on the back seat but there, I peered through the window and it looked ok the woman was obviously popping in migros to do shopping the trouble is it only takes minutes for something bad to happen, I've got 2 dogs myself and would not leave them and the weather being so hot now imagine how it feels in a car, I only speak a bit of German but she caught me looking in her car and knew I was annoyed so hopefully she'll think again next time, I'm sure she'd be upset if she came back to a dead animal plus you never know how long you'll be in migros sometimes the que is horrific

Good on you- she could have at least left both windows opened a bit and left him some water. Grrrr.

I wouldn't describe the current weather with "heat" though.

Re: Dog in car in this heat

Some folks these days are just cruel to animals and treat them with no respect, I once years ago on a very cold day left my dog in my car and she chewed up my hand break it cost me an absolute fortune to repair and she managed to do it in such a short time, but this was in the UK on a freezing cold day and I didn't want a wet dog lol but I learnt my lesson dogs left in cars is wrong and especially in this heat there should be fines put in place that'd stop it

Not for much longer - thunderstorm is on its way. Weather warnings on Swiss meteo in the area.

Yes I can see that but I'm not bothered lol it's too hot for me and too hot for my dogs and definitely too hot to leave a animal in a locked car some people are just either selfish or don't think

Re: Dog in car in this heat

that is nothing other day I found a baby crying his heart out inside a care in the front seat. I got so furious, I calmed the baby down then 5min later comes the mother. How stupid are some people? I was calling the police as she arrived, maybe I should have told her that she cannot leave that the police was coming now. My call didn't complete.

Baby was like a couple of weeks old, and he was in the front sit I think you can only use front sit if you car has no air-bag which is almost no cars nowadays.

I'd expect most modern cars to have a switch for the passenger airbag.

Re: Dog in car in this heat

Oh dear that's shocking a baby on its own in a car, she could have taken it with her, I think in this situation the woman just wanted some groceries from migros and dogs are not allowed in so she left it there but it was so hot today even I had to sit in the shade, the car was in direct sun with no windows open, every year plenty of dogs die in this way there was even a police dog died and the copper got fired, you can't be too careful

I would have been furious, too. You should have completed that call to the police.

Next time, I hope that woman leaves the baby at home when she goes out shopping.

Re: Dog in car in this heat

Tragically a baby died in a car in a car park in Neuchâtel last Summer- the dad went to work and forgot the baby was in the back?!?

What is perhaps even worse imho- is that probably some people heard him cry- or even saw him- and did NOTHING. I wouldn't like to live with their conscience.

Re: Dog in car in this heat

Ha! That's nothing!

Last week I found a hundred orphans locked in a Mini, in temperatures of at least 2000 degrees.

Of course, I called the police, the ambulance and the army and gave each orphan a puppy and ice cream and a million francs to pay for their education, and everybody said I was a hero, so I thought I'd come here and tell you all about it.

Re: Dog in car in this heat

I'd smash the car window and take the consequences if I saw a child or animal in distress locked in a car. It happens quite a lot in Spain and the person who breaks the window is very rarely prosecuted.

Everybody says that.

Funny how hardly anyone ever actually does it, though, isn't it?
