4th of July events in Zurich

Aside from private parties, does anyone know of good 4th of July events in Zurich to celebrate American Independence Day?

I've no idea what qualifies as "good" but there's a party at a brewery on the following Saturday, courtesy of the Bier Factory near Jona and fellow forum member SWISSG.

You won't find much, 4 July is not celebrated in CH.

That's not how it works - if an American is present absolutely everything has to be exactly as they would find it at home - otherwise it runs the risk of being considered much much worse.

Re: 4th of July events in Zurich

This year Zurich is celebrating 4 of July on three special days. July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. There will be a big firework on each of this days.

Friday from 10.30pm, till 11pm
Saturday from 10.30pm, till 11pm
Sunday 1.30am till 1.50am

Have fun, enjoy the celebration.

O.K. it is not for 4th of July. Nearly nobody cares about that day. But you can still pretend the fireworks are for Independence Day.
Here the whole Züri Fäscht schedule http://www.zuerifaescht.ch/programm/wann-2016/

PS: There will be fireworks again on August 1st. Accompanied with boring speeches by politicans, flag waving, and all the other shebang. Just FYI if you miss and need them.

neither are:

Alaska, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands (not to mention one or two ships and military bases here and there).

But I get your point.

FYI, the American Club Zurich is holding a 4th of July BBQ... on 2 July.

Not a member, never been, so no idea what the event is like.

Re: 4th of July events in Zurich

I get it, being British sucks (even more than normal) right now, but there's no need to be snide to some American newbie asking a perfectly acceptable question. It's not like our supremely integrated British population would dare celebrate any distinctly British holidays here on Swiss soil.

Actually, Alaska, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands are, as are Canada and Mexico, among others!

I disagree. From the original post: Events. In Zurich. To celebrate American Independence Day.

But maybe the OP is looking for a valid reason not to show up for work on Monday.

Yeah, and he got some helpful answers, because there are people celebrating American Independence day in Zürich. Just like Indian people celebrate Diwali in Zürich. Or British people observe Remembrance Day in Zürich. Or Cinco de Mayo. Or St. Patrick's Day.
