Bloody stupid hipster beards (on blokes) with skinny jeans, no socks and those flat-soled loafer type things.

Re: What does Swiss fashion look like?

I have seen in the German speaking part more use of linen and natural fabrics, often with a nice eccentric touch. In Geneva, you would need to go to Carouge to see this.

PaddyG, your and my skinny jeans days are over, and have been in my case for a few decades!

I surely hope the beards were on blokes, because bearded ladies have gone out of fashion a few circus freaks ago...

But seriously, why the beard hate? I find beards cool, and I know from my grandfather how difficult it is to keep a nice looking beard.

Re: What does Swiss fashion look like?

I have been trying to find a pair of jeans with a normal zip in them for years now. None of those 1 inch zips and the waist line round my hips.

Not to be found here, even in the Levi's shop!!

Finally found some in GAP in the UK, on sale for 9 quid. So i bought two pairs!! The waist is around my waist...

I think people should just dress as they feel comfortable. I do wear tracky trousers. They are comfy. I also have loads of other coloured shirts, trousers and skirts. Most i have bought in the sales. I have a 5 franc H&M dress i bought three years ago, still wear that. It's bright pink and white with zebras on it.

I think it's the pretend "hunter's", "man of the woods'" look from blokes who could not face to kill a rabbit if their life depended on it.

Good grief, how many women wearing ridding boots could hold on a horse? How many men wearing Levis could handle a lifetime of a miner life?

We all dress pretend. Wearing a scruffy beard and a plaid shirt is not an appropriation of some kind of "real man"...

I just bought mirrored Ray Bans. Because I felt nostalgic for the 80's. Does that make me a pilot wannabe?

Actually, keeping a beard trimmed is a lot more bother than just shaving. I'm humming and hawing at taking mine off today, as a matter of fact. The only thing holding me back is the tan line.

Our way, we get not just the look, unfortunately, but the whole panoply: fuel gushing pick up truck with Confederation stickers and "Geneva was better before...", whatever this is supposed to imply. Hopefully, this is all "pretend" too!

Christa of Carouge has a lot to answer for..... still, it makes deciding what to wear each morning a total doddle.

I'm not against trimmed beards on the older gentleman, but young guys in their early 20s with massive hipster monstrosities (often accompanied by the slick-backed hair) just look plain ridiculous.

Yours,
Mr. Intolerant,
Chorley

For the record, I'm pro-beard, as long as it's not a hipster birds-nest- soup-strainer. Beards are rather sexy, IMO.

I get a lot of stuff from engineering supply houses, but also some spammail from the medical and contact sex industry.

Google "live steam" for a while, it'll happen to you too.

I find it extremely difficult to find jeans that aren't skinny here. It's all what you can find in the stores or the mom's cut.

Boot in 30 degrees summer... That I see and don't get. I can only imagine the smell when they take them off at the end of the day.
