I found the quality of life in Denmark to be exceptional! Similar in many ways to CH with a few pros and cons. I lived north of Copenhagen for ten years and loved the place and the people. Sometimes I think of moving back to DK, but then remember the 65% income tax and 25% VAT!!
Work in Switzerland, retire in Denmark. That's my plan, anyway.

second that!

one thing holds true though: the neighbor's grass is always greener
Need to add in the fact that is should be on a Belgium contract!!!

On another survey I saw this week, again Switzerland comes out as top for financial benefits, but they did note 'Money, of course, canít buy happiness. Previous data released by HSBC showed that while Switzerland ranks first in financial well-being for those working abroad, it ranks close to last in cultivating relationships and social life'.

Why no one said Italy? With a Swiss pension you can live comfortably, eating very well, good quality health care (at least in Lombardy), among other good things.

Like anywhere, if you live in a nice, friendly neighbourhood and in comfortable accommodation with good schools and healthcare around, then does it really matter in which country? There are parts of Switzerland that would definitely be nightmarish, just like I'm sure in Sweden or Denmark.

Italian bureaucracy makes the Swiss look like amateurs.

Plus, gas costs too much, and the north is almost as expensive as Switzerland.

If you're a refugee, or like speaking German, neither of which applies to me.

Of course it does. For example, you can live in an incredible scenic neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, sea view, with amazing private schools, top tier hospitals, etc.,etc., but you never know if a thug will show up when you are arriving home.

My wife is from Tuscany, and they say that Italy is "Il paese delle carte" which means "The country of papers"

And unfortunately Italy has been degenerating due to the massive influx of illegal immigrants

I always think this surveys about Swiss friendliness and openness are a bit lazy

In my personal experience it takes some time and the default seems to be a little reserved but it is not that difficult to cultivate and form friendships here.....and the people are no different from anywhere else

CH definitely has a better quality of life than the UK......I was doing the same job there as here and there is no comparison to be honest

LOL I go to Tuscany regularly, and I've never seen an immigrant there illegal or otherwise. Bucket loads of tourist, yes - fortunately not where we go. Now if you were talking about Catania - I'd understand your comment a bit better.

Well yes, I'd much prefer Scicli, Ragusa, Modica or Noto - Montalbano country or North in Cefalý - love to visit, wouldn't want to actually live there though.

The only place I visit in Italy anymore, is the Eolie Archipelago. Seems like the only genuine place left in Sicily. I highly suggest you visit sometime

Some would say that's because it's the rich playground for the gauche caviar of the democratic party.
Anyway you see gypsies in front of the supermarket more often than in say Lombardy imho.
