| | Tech online shops that don't lie about stock ?
Hello, I've tried some online shops to buy IT stuff and they all lie about having an item in stock and then it takes them 2-3 weeks to deliver the item (microspot.ch, techmania.ch).
The only shop I found that doesn't lie about stock is digitec.ch.
Any other shops that you have personally used and that don't lie about stocks and respect shipping time ?
Digitec is nice but sometimes they don't have an item I'm looking for.

Are you looking at the stock levels from toppreise.ch? It is worthwhile to have a look. If I am in a hurry, I will order from a store that has the stock at their place, even if a bit more expensive.
I find that if the store says they have the item in stock, the normally do (although updating the website does not always seem automatic).
If the store says it is in a 3rd party warehouse - your guess is as good as mine. They have no control over that stock, probably do not have any idea of the actual stock level and if it is not really there, they have not idea of how long it will take to be back in stock.
Mostly you have a "take your chances" type of thing. If you want to make sure you have something, you need to get it in a physical store yourself.

But it doesn't help much if the seller lies about stock. Also I live in a very isolated tiny village so driving to the shop myself is not feasible haha.

Why should they? It's always good for them to appear to have more stock than they do...

AFAIK Digitec has one of the biggest warehouses in the trade. Chances are high if someone has it in stock it is Digitec.
From my very limited experience the stock numbers from www.brack.ch and www.steg-electronics.ch are also correct. But other may correct me on that.

If a shop says it has a lot of stock, I've never been disappointed. If they say they have just 1 or 2 left, it's worth calling them in advance to check/ask them to put one aside for you.

I just bought this Hama HDMI Switch from Microspot for 10 CHF. Very good price. But then I saw the same thing again on Microspot ( different artikel number ). The specs are exactly the same. ) And the price was 32 CHF!! It seems to be exactly the same. This price politik in Switzerland is crazy.
In the transport costs it says this
"Versand & Lieferung
But I did not have to pay any minimum order costs?!

I've never had any problems with any of the big players in the last few years.
But, ten years ago you could wait months for something to be delivered.
Next day delivery was a distant dream.

It was a bit of a shock after coming from the U.K. Customer service for online shops was non-existent and trying to cancel one of those orders that never materialised was next to impossible.

Having lived in Switzerland in the 1990s… yeah, months for mail-order was not rare.
Companies here routinely offer items for sale that they do not actually have stock of, happily taking your money and THEN placing the order for the item with their distributor, who itself may or may not be in Switzerland, and may or may not have any stock itself. Worst case, you're waiting for a shipment from the manufacturer to make it to the distributor to make it to the dealer to make it to you. In essence, companies here routinely list items that in fact they are special-ordering for you.
It's gotten a lot better now with online ordering, and more honest companies that list "ab externem Lager" for an item that's actually a special order.
(As an interesting aside, overnight delivery has been the norm in the electronics components industry for ages and ages, even from abroad. I guess it's because it's an industry with literally hundreds of thousands of SKUs, where it's simply not feasible to warehouse everything in every country.)

I've received yesterday email from steg-computers that they do not know when they will deliver the purchased thing that I've paid via paypal.
I've bought it because it was written that they have it in store and it could be delivered.
Now I don't know what to do. I need the thing and would like to get my money back so that I can buy it somewhere else.
Is their email enough for me to request money back?
