another return question (Fust)...

Hi everyone!

We just moved to Neuchatel from USA a few days ago. Will be here for 2 years! My wife bought a hair dryer from Fust 2 days ago and we need to return it since she needs something stronger. It was on sale(50%) according to the website which I didn't know that when she got it. I've searched and read a lot about return policy and especially on sales items, they prob won't do it.. Is it even worth it to try? Don't speak French(yet, taking lessons soon) so google translator will be the tool to communicate.. haha Thanks!

Sam

Just go and try, the worst thing that can happen is you'll bring it back home, normally they'll change, especially if you buy somethnig else, preferably more expensive

Hi Sam

Take it back, preferably with the packaging and your receipt, and ask. Most Fust employees I've spoken with have had good English. Go armed with some basic French phrases and you'll at least be met half way.

Worst case, you now have a spare, cheapish, hairdryer for guests!

Go back and ask them. You've got nothing to lose. They will normally exchange sale items but within a shorter time frame than for non sale items so the sooner you go back the better.
I have never had a problem exchanging items in Fust.

You may get lucky and find someone who speaks passable English but don't count on it in Neuchâtel. They do appreciate it if you try in French (even if it's really bad) first and will then try their best in English and between the two you should manage. There is one guy in the Maladiere centre branch who likes to practise his English even though both hubby and I speak fluent French.

If you tell them you want to swap for a more expensive one in-store and that you'll pay the extra then they should be agreeable. Clearly you will never know if you never try.

I agree 100% with you guys.

I went over there and asked one of the guys if he spoke English and said no so showed him the google translator that said can I exchange? He didn't even hesitate and said ok. But of course, the one my wife wanted wasn't available at the store! So I told him I'll be back with her. I can't wait to learn French so I can communicate/understand!

Just speak English with a French accent, you may be surprised how far it gets you!*

*Possibly.

Re: another return question (Fust)...

Welcome to Neuchâtel.

Legally they do not have to exchange or refund as the article is not faulty, but not quite what you were looking for. But they probably will do it if you buy a more expensive product. Always very important in CH to keep all original packaging and receipt for a little while.

You could of course ask them to order the model you want.
