| | What are these?
They appeared last November at ca. 20 or 30 metre intervals along the side of every road.
They have a battery, a control unit and lots of cables.
I first thought they were to power Christmas decorations or some sort of Dr. Who type force field generators to assist an alien takeover
Anyway they all disappeared before Christmas but now today they started reappearing.
See photo!

I spotted exactly the same thing on my street just yesterday!
Over on the other side of the river they have been stringing extension cords alongside Rheinsfelderstrasse pretty much all the way to the Kiesgrube. The extension cords started just after Halloween.
Very odd, must be something close to 8km of extension cords.

There are two wooden poles, one each side of the road supported with two guy ropes and joined at the top by a rope or cable and on one side you have a cable running down to an auto battery.
They are along a number of roads, sometimes at 0.5Km intervals otherwise around 200 metres; failed to get a foto
They look a bit like the constructions that builders use to carry electrical cables across the road to new constructions but they are not connected to a mains supply.

I didn't see any batteries, just the extension cords. It seems a very temporary installation though, so I'm surprised that it has been in place for so long. I thought they were for the p.a. or such for some sporting event. They don't seem to have had anything connected to them, and now the bits you posted the pic of appear.
Very strange...
Perhaps the thing needs looking into. I nominate ZuriRollt.

I stopped and had a look at a few today. They appear to be some kind of sensor array, probably seismic. There appear to be two types, one has a single array, a battery and what appears to be a recording or possibly transmitter, the second seems to be a chain of arrays ultimately connected to a transmitter/recording device. The chained arrays seem to have an additional (green) box, possibly some kind of multiplexor.
The sensor count, and the fact that they don't seem to be all that precisely located is a bit of a mystery to me - the individual sensor arrays have a large number of individual sensors which don't seem to be all that precisely located with respect to each other. The spikes/sensors are all arranged in a line, and the sensor groups seem to be at different angles to each other, but there is no visible indication that the individual lines of sensors have a particular id, or that the spacing or angles are particularly regular.
Seismic?
