For little kiddies and families, Barbara Klossner is simply brilliant! She did a similar workshop in my school and the kids adored her. Do you think this could work to attract young families? Obviously, this would not work for old rebels like Adrian London who would lose all street cred' instantly, but for the rest?

I am not sure if young families would go for yodelling. We kinda avoided noisy toys and noisy TV shows (Dora the yelling Explorer). Still have a child that likes to yodel, but that has nothing to do with any workshop. I would think you need to invest in marketing a little, ads in papers, flyers, Couleur 3 will gladly place a jingle, etc.

helloswitzerland has no particular reputation at present
Re: Your creative juice is needed...to save a Swiss tradition

I think you can attract a lot of younger audience if you give free admission, free apero/drinks/light snacks and some sort of fun workshop. I'm quite interested, can you let me know when it is?

I am really trying to work out the link between Lederhosen and hot dogs but I am struggling! Enlighten me!
Seems that Swiss/Bavarian/Austrian refers to a location in central/east Switzerland, quite remote and known for eating dogs...

So I though people wearing Lederhosen would come from there hence the snack suggestion...

This might be a very good idea. (with some fun historical presentation, as I saw they do for the alphorn players). And most importantly - get the cool kids in.

It will be last Saturday in January 2018, Salle des Fêtes Plain-Palais. I'll readvertise properly on EF nearer the time.

Meanwhile, feel free to come and cheer for us in Brig on Saturday 24th June for the Federal Yodelling Competition. You'll get the lot, including Alpine Horn, Schwyzer accordion, flag throwers...

Free admission won't happen, as we ourselves have to pay the "guest artists", rental of the room... the idea is that we manage to stay afloat financially, hard enough as it is, not go under.

Then you make cash for it in some other ways. Publicity always costs cash. If it is free apero and entry, young folks will come. Contact universities and organize a year long club with low membership. I will come, I yodel once a while in public, for kicks.

But without sponzors or funding it some other way, forget attracting fans. Just because it is almost a long lost art, it doesn't mean it won't take effort and investments to promote Vintage!

I tested Sonalp for you today, and my youngins liked it enough.
