What are th laws on teaching someone (one on one) about web design or language?

I have been a full stack web developer with good attestations from working with some nice companies (as intern mostly) from small web design agencies to the likes working with giants like Liip and recently doing internship at the EPFL.

Now, I see frequently people teaching on hourly basis from giving school-related course like maths, biology, history .. to simply teaching launguages like French, Germay Spanish and even chinese or Piano lessons .. you get the point.

Anyway since I am tight on cash and I certainly can "teach" someone at the very least basic web design - from front-end, back-end to system administration (full stack web develpment) I would like to know if someone has any valuable or simple advice they can give me on this subject.

So far I only have a PHP certificate (Zend certified PHP engineer) but I have no university background.

Do you think I should go for it? Or is there something I should know about in advance?

Certain professions require licensing, e.g. doctors, lawyers, etc.. And people who work with children of a certain age need a records check. But tutoring is not a licensed profession and tutoring privately does not need a records check. So basically the answer is: as long as you can find customers, you have the right to work in Switzerland, and you file your taxes correctly, then you're fine.

1. It's illegal to use Comic Sans.
2. There will be a public vote to finally outlaw Flash as well.
3. The use of Javascript is regulated on a cantonal level.

1. Make sure your permit allows it
2. If people are coming to your place for training make sure you have insurance
3. Declare income and pay taxes and social security

Otherwise your free to do as you wish.

This is a self employment activity. Your F permit probably doesn't allow it

But if it does, to do it officially: you need to declare income accordingly in tax declaration to pay taxes, and also register with AHV office to pay 10.25% social security on it. Not nice gotcha: there's some minimum AHV amount to pay, a few hundred franks a year.

You can of course try to do it all unofficially and hope you won't get caught

If you're on an F permit then you'd need to ask the cantonal authorities for permission is my guess.

You can be gainfully employed, but whether that includes self-employment as well only the people in charge can tell you.
