Move to the UK. You don't need as much sun block, the spiders generally aren't trying to kill you and now we have all this wonderful political stability.

Meat for the BBQ is often cheaper than in CH too.

Just read one of Aresid's comedy posts: the cinema as a basic human right...

In Australia, the problem is how to get basic human rights like finding place for a shrimp on your neighbours' barbie, and finding a bush unoccupied by some sort of venomous creature.
Referring to prawns as shrimp is one of the most un-Australian things you can do.

Switzerland is nice , most things work better here then in germany(for example
public transport, recycling, wages),...
I don't know Germany very well at all, and I imagine you do however I have to say that I was quite surprised by this comment, I was always under the impression that Germany was well on par with Switzerland for such things as public transport and recycling, and yes, even for wages. How wrong I have been

BTW I believe it is much easier to become an Aussie if you're into citizenship
Do you mean buying citizenship? What price do the Aussies ask for immigrant investors? The only ones I know have such a huge difference, $500,000 gets you into the US, £1 million into New Zealand and £2 million for the UK. I wonder if Switzerland offers citizenship for immigrant investors, anyone know?

Agreed. But then I not only left the place but I'm also vegetarian! The Australia Day Lamb ad is practically writing itself.

Australia has a lot of Problems (Drugs, Waste, Electricity,Housing,Immigrants for example), Germany as well (Wages, Housing, Welfare, Immigrants for example)
Most of the people on this forum would be an immigrant... so are we problems as well?

Or are you talking about refugees? Yes, there is a difference how they are treated in Europe compared to Australia... even the crappiest camp in Greece beats the concentration camps Australia has set up.

I don't think Europe is really in a position to tell Australia how to deal with the refugee problem...

What's wrong with Australians? I do find them to be friendlier and more welcoming than the Swiss.

At the risk of upsetting anyone, anywhere : we have lived for considerable periods in both countries. Loved CH despite that there are drawbacks as with everywhere.
Very, very unhappy in Oz, resulting in illness : we found the people there not - shall we say - very up-to-date with what is happening in the world. Very difficult to talk about Mozart, Rubens, Mendelssohn, Chagall - "wah?" [not even who] so we opted to return to Europe and have felt wonderful ever since.
But this is just our personal opinion, and would not suit everyone of course.

Any decent human being is in the position to tell the Australian government that this is not the way to deal with humans.

In Australia common sense comes before virtue signalling. That's why Europe has a migrant crisis and we don't.

The distance from other places, and ocean borders might have something to do with it too.

There are many things to admire about Australia. Its deep rooted racism and xenophobia, particularly when it comes to the neediest and most desperate people in the world, isn't one of them.

I agree. I sometimes wonder if Canada would be as good at integration if you could walk, swim, or take a rubber boat from some of the poorest places on earth to get there.

As an Australian I am proud of the system they have in place for asylum seekers.

I'm glad that they prioritize Australians safety over the needs of people from the rest of the world.

As an Australian, I am disgusted with the country's stance on children in detention camps. And that is the tip of the iceberg.

As an Australian, I am bitterly ashamed that we incarcerate people for daring to hope, for daring to escape.

And there's two questions in response to your statement about prioritising Australia:
1. Australian safety- is anyone advocating for no vetting? Just letting people in without checking them? Its not either let them in or let them get abused in a offshore detention center and punish those who dare speak out.
2. Its interesting that we speak about prioritising Australia, and yet year on year we cut budget for women's shelters etc.

This is a shoddy argument to be a shoddy person.

And his wonderful legacy has prevailed for + 200 years, which makes him [and the others mentioned] so culturally important IMHO

Don't really agree with that statement as it benefits all Australians.

But yeah I am a white Australian.
