Don't see how the indigenous people ever benefited from the white Australia policy. Please enlighten me.
And yeah, it shows. | Quote: | | | | | Don't really agree with that statement as it benefits all Australians.
But yeah I am a white Australian. | | | | | | The following 3 users would like to thank i-b-deborah for this useful post:

Basically, everyone who is white, was an immigrant to Australia origianlly {often from rather colourful backgrounds}. Hopefully they were not treated as badly as the present would-be immigrants

I'm proud of it too! | | | | | Have you tried asking any of the indigenous population if everything is tickety boo since the '60s?

But yeah I am a white Australian. | | | | | By "benefits all Australians" does that also include the indigenous Aboriginal people?

No. It didn't. I have met women who lost children in the mid seventies. It probably isn't an issue anymore as the genocide had worked by then.
Sorry to the op for the turn of discussion, but it is exactly the sort of thing l was forced to explain to Europeans when l left Oz, young naive and not knowing the history of my own country.

| | | | | There are many shelters for women here but not a single shelter for men. Would be nice if there was ANY budget for men's shelters.

There are many things to admire about Australia. Its deep rooted racism and xenophobia, particularly when it comes to the neediest and most desperate people in the world, isn't one of them. | | | | | I personally found xenophobia to be much worse in Switzerland.

Just so your aware the white Australia policy (which officially ended in the 60's) is completely separate matter to the current refugee policy.
The fact that it is brought up as an argument against the current refugee policy reeks of desperation.

| | | | | Interesting you should say that... my experience was the opposite in that I found Switzerland to be far more conservative than Australia. I also found Australia to be a lot more conservative when I was younger.

I'm sure aresid or what his name is will confirm, it's a human right to expect the indigenes to not only know but also be very keen on indulging those subjects when ever they cross my path.

Of course one expects the indigenes to talk about such things since we all learn about that fancy fondue long before coming to Switzerland...
But that made me laugh. I knew people who expected to debate French literature or history with all the French they encounter...only to be disappointed because they know more about all of these things... |

Very, very unhappy in Oz, resulting in illness : we found the people there not - shall we say - very up-to-date with what is happening in the world. Very difficult to talk about Mozart, Rubens, Mendelssohn, Chagall - "wah?" [not even who] so we opted to return to Europe and have felt wonderful ever since.
But this is just our personal opinion, and would not suit everyone of course. | | | | | Where did you live? Lightning Ridge? Of course, Australia is just one huge cultural desert.

Gesuis! 5 pages and I haven't figure out which country (CH/AU) is better! So be patient and please answer my questions:
1 - Where the people are nicer?
2 - Where the taxes are lower?
3 - Where the working environment is better for a skilled worker (MsC, PhD, etc.)?
4 - Where the girls have better bottoms? I was astonished... no, in fact I felt like I was run by a truck when I met a New Zealander girl yesterday: she was slim, fit, but with a narrow waist, wide hips, and a big, bubbly, wonderful artwork ass. How is Australia in that department? Euro countries sucks.. | This user would like to thank Capo for this useful post:

As a matter of fact, it wasn't until the mid '80s that he'd more or less internalized that bitter reality.
(here are a couple more commas, in case I missed an opportunity in the sentence above: ,,,,,,)
