It was a serious question! Are AUS girls like that? If yes, I will start to look for a job there...
I think you're likely going to have problems with women wherever you go.

Yes, they are. As I'm sure you're aware, "Australian" is a clearly-defined, genetically distinct sub-species of humans that has evolved over the millennia since Australia was first colonized by British convicts, a disproportionate number of whom were convicted and transported for "supranetherregional exploits".

Well then, we look forward to your uninformed pronouncements about Australia, delivered with the same passion as that that you hold for your beloved, equally unvisited UK.

You don't say. I am performing Mozart as we speak, so know about his legacy. But would not judge a quality of a continent by some people not caring for him nor other artists that I know of, know personally or who's work I value. Our taste is not canonical.

1. Australian safety- is anyone advocating for no vetting? Just letting people in without checking them? Its not either let them in or let them get abused in a offshore detention center and punish those who dare speak out.
The point of the offshore detention system is a way of vetting them before they are allowed in the country.

You might have noticed the massive difficulties Europe has had with deporting people who have no right to be there - this is why Australia has offshore detention facilities.

Hey everyone, new to this forum but not Switzerland. I have lived in Switzerland previously and sometimes I still find myself missing it. Have been thinking of moving back there but its a tough decision as both countries are great places to live and have a high standard of living.

The thing I miss most about Switzerland is the natural beauty. I loved the mountains, the snow, the lakes etc. It was also great being in the middle of Europe so travel was easy. In Australia it takes ages just to fly out of the country.

However Australia has some awesome beaches, and the people are a lot friendlier, open minded, and easy going. It is a lot easier to make friends in Australia than it is in Switzerland.

Which country do you think is a better place to live?
Before it turns into a catfight, this topic has already been debated here

Plenty of opinions to read from the time when there were more contributors on EF. It seems someone will pose this existential question every two years or so.
Enjoy.

Gesuis! 5 pages and I haven't figure out which country (CH/AU) is better! So be patient and please answer my questions:

1 - Where the people are nicer?
2 - Where the taxes are lower?
3 - Where the working environment is better for a skilled worker (MsC, PhD, etc.)?
4 - Where the girls have better bottoms? I was astonished... no, in fact I felt like I was run by a truck when I met a New Zealander girl yesterday: she was slim, fit, but with a narrow waist, wide hips, and a big, bubbly, wonderful artwork ass. How is Australia in that department? Euro countries sucks..
1. Definitely Australia, no contest
2. Switzerland
3. About the same?
4. Most Australian women are overweight... whereas you'll struggle to find any overweight Swiss women.

I think you'll find this question comes up often because Switzerland and Australia are two of the wealthiest countries in the world with a high standard of living. I read that Australia and Switzerland are rated the two best countries in the world to be born in.
Yes, and also hence the problem, forcing yourself to choose between two almost perfect worlds (spoken as an Australian living here 9 years, facing this choice and always in the end "staying here while the going is still good" - its the ultimate cushy first world conundrum, you're fortunate to have it).

The whole upside of the question is that if you:
a) do nothing, or
b) choose AU or CH

You win in every scenario, as you will be living a great lifestyle in a beautiful country. Happy Ending.

One doesn't beat the other solidly unless you have some strong stand out preferences/aversions for activities and lifestyle elements that are very Swiss or Australian, and even then a massive spreadsheet of decision criteria will leave you choosing with your heart (and wallet) anyway.

Definitely not. The majority of Australian women are overweight. Pretty much all Swiss women are slim, fit, and don't age nearly as badly as most Aussie women do. A 45 year old Swiss woman looks about the same age as a 30 year old Australian woman.

1. Cost of Living. .. has CH become cheaper?!?!"
In a general way yes, over the last 5 yars as there has been either near 0% inflation or significant deflation, due in large part to the appreciating Franc.

But a 12 franc bottle of Spanish Rioja at COOP is still 12 francs after 9 years, even if the Euro has gone from 1.5 to 1.08 CHF

But overall, I would say food shopping has become cheaper here.

Meanwhile Australia has been booming and lets not mention house prices.

I am not going to quote or compare actual inflation figures which may be hard to compare fairly)

You listed a lot of good and important things to consider,
... but I haven't read of one important factor in all this - daily hours of sunlight. In the end, when it comes to retirement (still 20 years away for me) , I don't think I'd want to be somewhere that isn't sunny a lot of the time. oh and Healthcare - that maters for retirement obviously.

A a coastal boy, the one thing I miss is the smell of the ocean and Eucalyptus leaves, and the feeling of sand between my toes watching a sunset. But I get that at Christmas times some years. In the meantime lake swims and sunsets are good... ;-) and the cycling here is stunning

Its a tough choice knowing two perfections - so maybe the question could be differently framed: which one brings out your best - professionally and personally - for life satisfaction and personal growth?

Finally someone with a sense of humor and an open mind. Your description is similar from what I heard from a friend who goes to AUS twice a year. He said that those beach bikini girls that we usually see are a very minority.

I agree that Swiss women "age well", much like Italian and Spanish girls, however I think they are just, hum.., just average.
