Australia or Switzerland a better place to live?

Hey everyone, new to this forum but not Switzerland. I have lived in Switzerland previously and sometimes I still find myself missing it. Have been thinking of moving back there but its a tough decision as both countries are great places to live and have a high standard of living.

The thing I miss most about Switzerland is the natural beauty. I loved the mountains, the snow, the lakes etc. It was also great being in the middle of Europe so travel was easy. In Australia it takes ages just to fly out of the country.

However Australia has some awesome beaches, and the people are a lot friendlier, open minded, and easy going. It is a lot easier to make friends in Australia than it is in Switzerland.

Which country do you think is a better place to live?

Also it's full of Australians.

But mainly Australians.

What's wrong with Australians? I do find them to be friendlier and more welcoming than the Swiss.

Outside of the big cities the Australians are few and far between. No issue. But almost everything else is trying to kill you.

Re: Australia or Switzerland a better place to live?

We had the same question 4 months ago.
It seems what Australia does to people is make them indecisive, weak, dependent and trying for their enviroment.

Better stay in Australia, in Switzerland you have to take decisions daily all by yourself, starts with what to have for breakfast ..... take the train or the car ..... all the way to "do I still want atomic power plants?"

OP - maybe visit CH again for a while before making any massive life decisions. The things you list as loving about Australia seem to be pretty big pros to me.

Good luck.

Stay in Australia!!! In switzerland resources are artificially scarce! e.g water, housing, food.
and the human rights are disregarded!

Re: Australia or Switzerland a better place to live?

We had the same conundrum not so long ago and have just moved back to CH from AU- we love it here and missed it a lot, but there is lots of stuff to balance.

Happy to talk privately if you want my view.

I think you'll find this question comes up often because Switzerland and Australia are two of the wealthiest countries in the world with a high standard of living. I read that Australia and Switzerland are rated the two best countries in the world to be born in.

I don't know about Australia (might be like the US) but for Switzerland it proved to be just fine to be born far away provided being produced by Swiss parents.

Glad to hear you're still considered wealthy, my money is in Australia. Something wrong with your dollar though, can't change the profit back to CHF.

What about when you are at the restaurants. Water comes in 0.5L bottles!! Isn't that against human rights?! To pay 6Fr to get so little?

The OP should know this! this example is enough to prove that living standards in Switzerland are shit!
