Hello,

does anyone know a beautiful sunflower field somewhere in Switzerland? It would be perfect if the place is easily reachable by public transport and if it is close from Basel. However I would not mind travel some distance as long as I can reach there without a car.
My hobby is photography, I have been searching for a sunflower field since quite long time, but until now did not find a suitable one. The flower field does not have to be huge. I will be definitely satisfied if there are "enough" numbers of sunflowers in group.

The fields to the south of Geneva are full of sunflowers, all just coming into bloom.
Lully, Soral, Sezegnin are all easily reachable by bus if necessary.
A bit far for you probably, but they are stunningly beautiful!

Last year there was a small field out near Biel-Benken, on Leymanstrasse heading for the French border. Not sure if they planted it again, or how it might look, but at least it is close.

Saw a huge one between Winterthur and St. Gallen last week (wondering why my own didn't even grow to full lenth yet ). But it was from the highway, sorry.

But I'm sure there are loads of them in Basel-Land?

Thank you very much! Yes I am also wondering why I have not found one in Baselland! I googled a lot but no fruitful result yet.

All the fields here now have sunflowers in were planted with linseed rape last year, so it's unlikely they'll be there in the same field again this year... crop rotation and all that.

Saw a big one two weeks ago near Waldshut (so on the German side) between Schaffhausen and Basel. But difficult to access by public transport.

But I think there are a lot at the moment, I'll have a look around.

There is a ton around here between Winterthur and Frauenfeld, though its probably just past a good to to photo them, as they starting to drupe and the heavy rain has broken the petals.

You could contact Florin AG in Muttenz, (one of) the biggest oilseed mill in Switzerland, and ask them for their biggest sunflowerseed suppliers in the region, who you could then contact directly. Production volume is likely to correlate with field sizes.

Doing the airport run (again!) a couple of days ago, there were tons all along the MWay to Lausanne and then from Lausanne to Geneva. Gorgeous.

I travel from Basel to Bern every day. I saw beautiful sunflower field close to Olten. Close to Olten. Hope it helps.

I think you'll be very happy to learn about the selber schneiden fields near Eglisee/Lange Erlen in Basel.

Just check on Allmendstrasse between Kleinriehenstrasse and Baumlihofstrasse (4058). Take Tram 2 or 6 or even Bus 34.

There is a nice variety of flowers including sun flowers. If you go around the corner up Baumlihofstr., you'll find a larger field dedicated to the yellow blooms. They have them for sell right now, so they're here and still comin'. Don't forget your camera and some change.
