Buy an iron, you can do it in your flat, no problem.

Or did you mean where you can find someone else to do it for you?

With the prices in Switzerland I´d recommend to buy an iron and ironing board

Colleague of mine pays (I think) 3 CHF for laundering and ironing a shirt

Re: ironing in St Gallen

ok, got it.

I can do the laundering myself, but I can't do the ironing.

Where can I find someone to do it?

Quite an assumption.
There are 38 or whatever genders to choose from but you want a *lady*?

You mean in Romania that still is solely a woman´s task? Or are you that old that mama never taught you?

Re: ironing in St Gallen

well now that you're asking, I don't remember seeing many men while I lived there. I don't remember seeing any in fact.

Also, since i've been living in the UK for the last few years, nobody had these gender issues there and yes some women were ironing my shirts.

Re: ironing in St Gallen

One of the big advantages of Mr.L's retirement is that I no longer have office shirts to iron. Still the odd one when we go out, but fewer than 'then'.

Recently I was unable to cope with ironing for a while and Mr. L did quite a passable job himself after studying instructions from the Internet! So with a little bit of time and effort it is really possible to learn - and saves a LOT of money.

I always use a sleeve-board as I don't fold them unless we are packing to go away. They go straight back onto hangers which are hung alternately, one straight on the rail and one hung through a 'shower curtain ring' on the rail which lowers it enough that the collars don't push against each other and crease.

Re: ironing in St Gallen

A quick google brings up this in St Gallen:
http://www.dreischiibe.ch/fileadmin/...denservice.pdf

3.50 per shirt if you drop them off at one of their collection points, 5.00 per shirt if you need pick-up and delivery service.

This if for washing and ironing - whether or not they will iron only is something you'd need to ask.

There are several similar companies in the St Gallen area, just google Hemd + Bügelservice.

If you want to hire someone to come in to do the ironing at your place, look under Putzfrau/house cleaner companies. Some would include ironing in their services. Be aware that you'd likely pay somewhere between 25-40 per hour.

You can also advertise locally for someone to do the ironing, hire someone privately. Try for very local, as in your corner grocery store or bakery. Many will have a notice board for such ads. Prices may be per hour or per shirt - but expect to pay more if you have someone come into your home to do the work.

3 a shirt in Zurich? That seems very cheap. Do you know where it is?
