| | anywhere to go in Geneva with proper aircon?
I do hope somebody has some ideas on this. Other than hanging out in the frozen food sections of supermarkets (bit weird and boring), is there anywhere that has aircon which is better than a couple of degrees cooler than outside? So, I exclude, for example, all the good hotels, none of which have proper aircon.

I have been in ones in summer that have been stifling early on and I don't go to them anymore until it gets colder.

Wow, my partner's work has none and it is so hot there that he stays home in this weather. 35C inside (or whatever it is) is so much better than his work!

Tie an air matras to a tree and lay in it's shadow in the river, while your feet and some cold beers hang in the water.
I can't wait till my kid is old enough to take it to the water.

You could try lurking on some of the newer trams, they get quite chilly at times. Or just inside the doorway of Grand Passage (globus), seem to remember there's a horrible, cold downdraft there.
This heat won't last... in a few weeks time everyman and his wife will be whinging that it's too cold!

I have a fan as close to me as possible, on 24 hours a day. I keep my shutters down most of the day.
I did notice that wall of heat when I popped outside today. It was quite pleasant when i came home.
Also, i live on the seventh floor, so have any breeze that comes. I often go and sit on a terrace on the rue Dancet (shady side) where there is, most days, a bit of wind. Warm but pleasant. And a great place to "people watch"!!
Wear loose fitting cloths, which for me at the moment is everything!!
Otherwise, drink lots of cool drinks, have cool showers and emerge yourself in a cool bath!!
I am dreading the cold weather. But this heat is just a bit OTT!

Seeing that picture of him with James Joyce sort of changed my image of the rugged man "who gets better looking with age" pic i had in my mind!!
But then I look like a bald, skinny runt so can't really talk!!

But then FMF wasn't the prickly piece of work I was expecting.

Other than that no other options than a swim in the lake to cool off.

Very old house with thick stone walls at about 1000m - and it is always cool enough in front, and delicious at the back... |
