What to do with crap weather and guests?

HELP NEEDED!!!!

So i have a few guests over for the weekend.

The inital plan was to visit various restaurants (eat and drink outside) and show them some cool views around zug, with perhaps a few walks around Zugerberg/Sattel/Zug lake/Old town and probably a drive to Gersau.

Unfortunatley the weather is shifting from a sunny weekend to a crappy rainy one.

So what can i do now to entertain the guests in and around Zug???

cheers
SC

Re: What to do with crap weather and guests?

The weather for Saturday is iffy but Sunday doesn't look too bad. The rotating gondola up from Sattel might be fun and there will be shorter queues if the weather is not super.

Re: What to do with crap weather and guests?

The stay-indoor-eat-lot-of-cheese plan is 50/50 hit and miss. Depends how adventurous your guests are, for some coming from abroad it can be a bit boring.

Aquapark - or spa, and a movie after, can be an alternative in ugly weather.

Re: What to do with crap weather and guests?

I'd go to Luzern and get a round trip on one of the boats. The mountains can look quite dramatic when the weather is dreadful.

Or go to the Ticino. Often the weather is better there.

Re: What to do with crap weather and guests?

Luzern has the:
Verkehrshaus
The covered Kappel Bridge
Sammlung Rosengart

Bern has also a conveniently covered old town.

PS: There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.

Re: What to do with crap weather and guests?

I would have suggested the Verkehrshaus as well.

Also, Sunday is looking better, warmer and some sun, even if mixed in with clouds (which isn't so bad to see lakes and mountains and all). It really is disgustingly miserable today

Ohhh!

That is So Wrong!

The display of cars is lovely, and most kids wont read the anecdotes on the aeroplanes and trains.

The chocolate ride is like a trip through Swiss history.

They have to keep the adults that are attached to the kids entertained too - kids seldom come there alone.

Judging by the adults I know, I always had the feeling the guys in particular could hardly wait to find a youngster to take along, to give them a good excuse to go again.

Youngsters tend to rush from one fascinating thing to another. Adults tend to think about things more and actually read the information on the exhibits. (Same applies to a certain extent in Technorama or in Zoos)

Maybe 'fun' is the wrong word. I'd say 'interesting'.

Re: What to do with crap weather and guests?

have a drink or two at Skylounge
Go up to Zugerberg have a coffee or a nice hike if geared properly
You can also have a very nice meal at Ristorante Rothelberg on the way to Zugerberg
Travel to Interlaken by car or to Luzern by train
You can always go up to Rigi
Meating is another steak restaurant, a better steak restaurant is actually at mettmenstetten main train station

Well, let's see....here's the description of the "museum" directly from the website:
Quote:
Decorated with numerous road signs, the well-known road transport hall at the Museum of Transport has welcomed a new exhibition. A new mezzanine houses an extensive display of two- and three-wheeled vehicles. The first floor is home to a large-scale presentation of the former Swiss car brand ‘Monteverdi’. SEE YOU, the mirror world presented by the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (bfu), is designed to draw in the crowds on the ground floor.
....and at 30Chf per pop just for regular admission, I find it a bit steep for what they had to offer.

Swiss prices.

If want it cheaper go to Sinsheim
https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/

But you will get tears in the eyes when you see the state and condition of the Concord and Concordski.

Specially compared to the pristine one in the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center https://airandspace.si.edu/udvar-hazy-center
O.k. the later you can only see from the outside and it is not only a museum but kind of a library for future generations.

Buskers Bern music festival starts today, with Buskers from all over the world.

The weather looks better Saturday and Sunday, up to a great 23 degrees. If the clouds part you'll get the Persid Meteor shower too.

The crap weather you can just dress up against, the guests I'm not so sure. Maybe just invite better quality ones next time?
