Finding or disposing of used English books

SAVE OUR BOOKS!

Books are being disposed of every day due to the lack of being able to find new owners. So where can you dispose of your books or find free used books?

1. At your local recycling center

Some centers have bookshelves where one can take away free used books. I've set up a box at our local recycling center asking for English-German dictionaries for local students. The employees enjoy helping out for a good cause when they can.

2. Telephone booths

There are telephone booths being used as miniature libraries or book exchanges throughout Switzerland where one can bring or find a good book.

3. Advertising on English Forum

4. Advertising on tutti.ch

5. See these threads for some other ideas:

Anymore ideas? (Mods, can we make this into a sticky? Thanks!)

For those out the Obersee way, there is the Rotary Büchershop in Rapperswil. You can bring books on specific days, see the 'Abgabetermin' link. There are three days in September and two in October, three in November, for those cleaning out shelves now.

Also note the types of books accepted.

For those looking to fill their shelves, this is a great place to find second hand books for very little money.

Re: Finding or disposing of used English books

www.rebuy.de/ buy books and other media - may be worth a look - they pay your postage (within Germany) if you submit a certain amount of stuff. I've submitted a parcel of stuff from time to time. They pay out in cash transfer to bank account or alternatively you can use the credit for traded-in items to buy stuff (from the site). Handy if you are near the border or make regular trips to Germany.

Before this I used Amazon Trade-In, but this was discontinued.
