The chf 70 includes the frame and labour?
Yes, of course. It's 4 pieces of thin wood cut diagonally with a canvas stretched over and stapled into place, we are hardly talking the height artisan craftsmanship here are we? It will probably take any trained person half an hour or so to do both, tops.

I'm just looking for a basic thin frame in this style:

That's a stretcher, not a frame.

It is referred to as: "mounting on a frame" in many online stores I have seen, in fact I have not yet seen the sole term: "stretcher" used yet at any place I checked out.

Anyway I have the info I need now so thanks to those who responded. Over and out.

Well, it would have been useful for us to know from the beginning that you wanted a stretcher.

These are framed (most of which also have stretchers), and with the exception of Jesus, all have the basic wooden frames that we presumed you were talking about:

Just out of IKEA. Why don't you buy prints that already are stretched over frames? They cost less than CHF 30 - 40.
See a few attached pics. I know your prints are of a slightly different size, but browse ikea site, you could find something...

I hope there may also be frames at broki?...

Sizes i saw 100*70, 120*56, 118*78, but i didn't look too close...

My wife has done that at antique shops, but at 2-300 a pop, plus another 2-300 to resize them.

But if richdog finds a frame of his required size somewhere in micasa, home depot or other place, they can remove the sh*t print and staple their own. Still cheaper in the long run, even if they have to buy a special stapler. I applaud your OH, that's how you get special stuff. i have amassed a collection of used old frames in the UK which i use to display my own stuff.

Do you have any actualy experience repurposing IKEA frames?

I am very sceptical of IKEA stuff, having learnt the hard way time and time again that IKEA is not a DIY store and everything there is seemingly sabotaged to cause immense pain if used in any way other than designed.

My mother had a small collection of frames she had picked up at car boot sales and the like. I guess my Dad must have thrown them out after she died as I never saw them again. There were some really nice ones there.

Re: Cheapest place to take a painting to get a basic wooden frame in Zurich?

Zumstein sell the pieces to make your own stretcher (you'll need four bits - two for the sides, two for the top and bottom)

Here

You call also buy a ready made canvas on stretcher and remove the canvas:

Here

For example, a 70cm x 70cm will be 19 CHF.

Rafaelo are really nice quality.
