Migros didn't seem to be bothered when their own employees have problems with the product but remove it after someone tweets about it.
Which I think is the reason why people drive out to Dubler's backyard to directly buy from him. They might feel that Migros basically presenting him as rasist was not fair to Dubler. I don't think the loyal candy fans deserve to be pooped on in this thread, either. If so, let close all the fancy renaissance markets and war battle re-enactments in the world and historical theaters. Tear down statues and start teaching history since....uhm...like, 2000AD. That's what neomarxists do or did.

What should I have written? Non-white I guess? Perhaps you could have told me in your response?
Coloured fell out of acceptable usage around 1970, I would say and is certainly considered offensive now.

It depends exactly how you intended to describe the cashier? Were they black? Were they of mixed heritage?

Yes instead of coloured cashier, I should have (apparently) have written "cashier of colour". Apologies for the anti-semantic slip up.

That is certainly one option. No need for the snarky (apparently) though, youíve been quite reasonable up to now in this debate and Iím just helping you out with acceptable terminology.

Pedantism deserves snarkiness and boy are you pedant. I would bet some cash money that judging from the familiarity and directness with which you engage in the forum that you are a longtime user who has registered with a new username.

Iím sorry, using the term ďcolouredĒ is offensive to us. It has been for quite a long time and this isnít pedantry.

Given that there are flat out racists on here, and that even the better meaning people on here canít help but let slip racist terms, i think Iíll keep my personal life as that.

If you seem nice and we meet for a drink then youíll see for yourself, wonít you!

I was paraphrasing on the fly. I read the article yesterday. It wasn't intentional.

No worries, I know it wasnít meant in a pejorative way, but I thought it worth pointing out that it is definitely not preferred terminology any more.

Who is us?

I once asked a neighbor in the US, that with all the different terms flying around, which she personally preferred, and she said "colored".

Another anecdote. Excellent.

I suggest you call her what she would like to be called and respect that many other people do not like that term.

How long have you been away from the US, incidentally?

You're not a mod on this thread. You're a common or garden poster like the rest of us.

It's quite difficult to keep up with the terminology when you're away. I, too, was told once to use the term "colored" and not "black." That's obviously evolved to being black again but I do have a genuine question:

What do you call people of mixed colour?

People of colours?

In all seriousness I would just say "mixed race". Either way, I probably wouldn't beat myself up for using "coloured" vs "people of colour" as the latest most acceptable racial descriptory do seem to sometimes vary a bit depending on who you speak to.

I thought dual race is the term these days. Mixed race sounds so dated .
