Zürich police no longer fine for small amounts of cannabis

It's official!

Until further notice, effetive immediately, Zürich police will no longer fine for the possession of small amounts of cannabis (up to 10g). This is a consequence of recent federal court rulings. This applies to the Kanton, not just the city.

I may be wrong but I think this has already been the practice in the other Kantons.

However consumption will still be prosecuted. The fine remains at 100 CHF.

Re: Zürich police no longer fine for small amounts of cannabis

Me and a few mates got rather stoned at the Stones gig the other night (ironically) even though we didn't have any weed ourselves. We were closely surrounded by about a dozen people smoking it for the duration. As my former drug squad officer friend in the UK said, "What's the worst they're going to do? Order pizza?"

What do you mean consumption will be prosecuted?

That is weird phrasing. So the new freedom is only for dealers?

Can you link where that part was published as well? Cheers.
I guess, carrying the stuff on you is okay, smoking it (in public only or anywhere?) is still illegal.

Art. 19a vs. 19b of the Narcotics Act
https://www.admin.ch/opc/en/classifi...ndex.html#a19a

The sad news is that the canton Zurich police (and apparently Basel as well) had not given a damn about the actual wording of the Narcotics Act and it had to go all the way to the federal court.

No. Smoking it is not punishable as far as I understand

Challenge them, light up next time you come across police.

As for the wordking:
Consumption = smoking + eating + whatever other form of using you may come up with.
Intake if you prefer.

Who gives a damn that it be legalized?
Ups, I didn't realize there is a 100 times difference between some cities and others...

"I smoked, that's true, but I didn't inhale it?" It might work for you.

If you're talking to omtatsat it's the other way around: He inhales but doesn't smoke. They call it passive-smoking.
(Wonder how that would be prosecuted with dope? This "van den andern" tactics would be theft in this case, no?)

Not that I'd be wishing it on anybody but you don't need to have smoked, smoking "only" increases the chance for lung cancer.

Theft preconditions taking possession against the possessor's or owner's will.

Exactly. I don't want others to breath in my smoke, it's costly

I do not know. I just know that they say that the grass is greener on the other side. Maybe that helps.
