Re: Instant Pot

Swiss here, just moved back from the States, and absolutely love the Instant! And yes, I grew up with the stove top pressure cookers, so I do know about those too

I see that I could get the 6 liter one from Amazon.de but could not find the 8 liter one (Duo80 7-1). Any suggestions where I could find the bigger one?

They are only sold on Amazon.

If you don't see it as an option then it's not there and only the 6QT is sold.

Re: Instant Pot

Apparently the 3L Instant Pot will be on sale in Europe in July. I will buy one as a rice cooker and for smaller meals.

Re: Instant Pot

Widely available and also an item of EE's cookery paraphernalia since 3 years, is the MOULINEX COOKÉO, which is basically a free standing pressure cooker, but offers a few other things to do with it as well.

https://www.moulinex.ch/de/c/MULTIKO...O/p/7211002063

It comes with an inbuilt book of recipes, which I for one don't like that much, I use my 70s cookbooks from the Kuhn Rikon DUROMATIC pan heyday

What I love with it is, that you prep, then set the time for how long it has to pressure cook and the Cookéo does all on its own, giving me time to prep side dishes or whatever else.

There are a lot of FB groups for recipes and help ranging from Australia (where it is very chic to own one) to France.

Admittedly mine is sometimes degraded to plain rice cooker too....prepping yummy stuff in the Slowies and then quickly rustle up a side dish with the pressure cooker.

Amazon now have the Instant Pot Mini, around 95chf delivered to Switzerland! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Instant-Pot...3293013&sr=8-5

I ordered one so will have the 3 litre as a rice cooker and for smaller meals and will use the 6 litre for larger meals.

Re: Instant Pot

So I succumbed. Not to an instant pot, but rather to a Ninja Foodi Max. The exact model is op500eu.

It’s a combo pressure cooker/air fryer. And other stuff. We’ll see - I’ll have it Wednesday.

Let us know! I love both my Instapot and the airfryer. That combined would be great (but then I wouldn´t buy one as the other 2 function well)

Re: Instant Pot

Been using the Ninja Foodi for a week

First thing I cooked was a whole chicken. Nicely browned skin, still juicy using the air fryer. Then I roasted the bones for about 15 min and used the pressure cooker to make stock. Pretty good.

I‘ve done more soups, and they worked well.

My elderly dog is not liking her regular dog food, so she‘s getting ground meat, rice and some vegetables.....cooked in the pressure cooker.

It‘s really easy to clean, which I totally love, and I haven‘t needed to put the pots in the dishwasher.

My only small complaint is that it takes about 15 min to come up to pressure.

Making bao with kimchi tonight. Haven‘t decided if I’ll use my bamboo Steamer or this.

Anyway, so far, so good.

Re: Instant Pot

I am really liking the Instant Pot Mini 3L/QT as an accompaniment to my 6L pot. It is perfect for either 1-2 person meals, or as a rice cooker that can easily handle hard grains quicker and reliably, not to mention is really good for cooking pilau rice as it completely seals in the flavours.

Only annoying things I can think of are:

1) Sometimes it displays the "burn food" alert a little easily. Usually though if you are comfortable with the amount of ingredients you have in there you can ignore it and it will go away after a short while. This took me a little practise to figure out, as to start with upon seeing the "burn food" alert I would release the pressure, mix the food or ass a little more liquid and start again.

2) The silicone sealing ring REALLY picks up a strong smell even after one use. A good run in the dishwasher generally removes the odour for the most part, but now I have multiple rings just to be safe if I cook very different food types.

Between those two devices you can really cook relatively easily and stress-free for 1-8 people.

Interesting device with the air frying functionality and seems like it works very well. Seems to add a lot of weight though and sadly no stainless steel bowl option. https://www.amazon.com/Ninja-1400-Wa...07FDFP79J?th=1

Re: Instant Pot

I use my instapot in the UK all the time, and really love it, not sure how to bring it with me as it doesn't fit in the suit case... anyone has ideas?
I don't mind getting a new one there, but its a hassle of going to Germany to pick it up on the trains as I have no car. I searched Swiss electric shops online and I didn't find any.
It will become sort of essential for me as in my new apartment the kitchen is almost non existing... my instapot in the UK is not used by anyone, so in theory I can bring it if it wasn't bulcky... anyone managed to pack it and bring it?
I am flying with Swissair, and the extra suitcase used to be £23 or something like that, since the pandemic its £73 for that much I could get a new one in Ch .. only I can't find it... when I went with a friend St Louis I saw this French automatic/programmed all signing all dancing kind of cooker ( forgot the name of it) but that costs at least 1000 euro, but I heard many bachelors who bought it and swear by it... I don't need such sophisticated gadget myself something like instapot is more than enough...
