| | Instant Pot
Has anyone been able to find an Instant Pot (electric pressure cooker) that works in Switzerland? I heard, sort of vaguely, that one would get one from the UK, and I see some for sale on amazon there, but I did not know if those would work in Switzerland.

Only thing you need to change is the plug or get an adapter. But you can also buy pressure cookers here easily

Why would you need a special electric one, and not an standard one which you can put on the hob and use as a normal pot as well? |

I love our Instant Pot. Having been a chef in a previous life, I was scathing of it when my partner ordered one. What's wrong with pots and pans I thought.
Well I ended up commandeering it and I love it so much, I'm going to buy the bigger 8qt pot. We use it for so many things. I make a large batch of chicken stock every week (with bones from my local farmer), we slow cook everything, pulled pork, curry in a hurry, it really is a wonderful machine. It's a dream to keep clean and really simple to use.
Anyway, the distribution method has changed and for Europe you no longer buy through Amazon, but rather eBay.
Get your instant pot here on Ebay UK

Space in cupboard is rare. Means I could potentially chuck out my La Creuset and the Kuhn Rikon.
But what if I want do make a pot roast and red cabbage?

It also contains everything, smells, flavour etc. It has excellent setting for fast cooking, slow cooking, pressure cooking (cook flank, neck or brisket in 25 minutes until MELTY - it's amazing!), soups, stews and even yoghurt.
Keep your Le Creuset, it's always a thing of beauty, pot roasts and ovens will always have their place.

I gave both my daughters who live in the UK Instant Pots as gifts and they love cooking with them.
Currently, I'm using a Kuhn Rikon stove top pressure cooker and it's fantastic I use it 4 or 5 times a week. I coupled it with a high quality 2000w hotplate and do most of my pressure cooking outside, on the patio, to keep my apartment from smelling like last night's dinner.
However, I still want the 8 liter Instant Pot - so much easier to use - but I will have to wait until a UK or DE trip I guess.
Good luck with your search!!

I'd never heard of an Instant Pot before this thread, and now I urgently want one.
(Thanks, EF )
I won't use eBay, but browsing around I found a Gastroback Multicooker at Galaxus: https://www.galaxus.ch/de/s2/product...cooker-5800206
Is this similar?
If so, do any of you have experience with it?

Ah, I just learned something...and it's probably something everyone is already aware of.
With my UK amazon account I can log into amazon.de and at checkout I can select one of ~20 Amazon pickup points in Konstanz - that's worth the short trip for those of us near the border.
The Galaxus cooker you found meloncollie does not seem to include pressure cooking I think an Instant Pot brand is the way to go.

This is my instant pot, there are many like it but this one is mine...
I cannot comment on the quality of other such pots, however I must be honest and say that I am completely biased towards the Instant Pot. It'll be the best 100 bucks you ever spend.

What have you used it for so far? Bit more details please? |

I have had my instapot for more than a year now and have used it more for pressure cooking.
The beauty of the instapot is setting the timer and you can forget all about monitoring it, I have burnt a few of my stove top pressure cookers as my evening routine with 2 kids is pretty packed.
No time to hover and wait for pressure releases and switch it off.
You can stack bowls/dishes and cook 2-3 different things. I normally cook rice, quiona , lentils, eggs, steam vegetables, soups and of course curries. Fermenting is dream (yogurt, batter, dough).
I tried pasta and ebly and they came out really nice but I still don’t use it for Pasta.
Cooking chickpeas or any dry lentils is a dream, soak and set a timer for 6 hours and cook for 5 mins (under pressure) and it is done, I do this overnight or before I leave for work.
Takes a while to master the water/time ratio and once you have it figured, it is a dream.
