Laughing in Switzerland all the way from birth to death

I was just looking on internet for ideas for a newborn baby (for a colleague) and when I typed up "Typical Swiss presents for babies", the first thing that came up was "A package of insurance: medical, dental, accidental, studies...for your newborn". The Swiss will never stop to make us laugh!

You have to insure kids before their teeth come through otherwise there might be a little something showing that they can put a withhold clause on. Halfway out the birth canal with head showing & shoulders still inside is a good time.

I suppose you could purchase a Divorce insurance and buy the kid a plot in the local Friedhof.

My one-year-old grandson has just knocked one of his front bottom teeth out (he climbed over the stairgate in the early hours of the morning and fell down an entire flight of stairs); #1 son is furious as it could easily have been put back if dentistry had been doing their job properly and actually had a dentist on-call as they should have done.

Dental insurance for babies isn't quite as stupid as it sounds!

You'll be happy to hear that my son knocked out one of his front teeth just a couple of weeks after it appeared. He had a gap in his smile for years -- then, eventually, his adult tooth descended and it was perfectly normal in every respect. So don't worry, there's a good chance your grandson will turn out fine eventually.

(I'll save the story of how my son broke that very same adult front tooth just a few weeks after it appeared, perfectly normal in every respect, for another thread, shall I?)
