The problem is there is no such thing written in the contract. I see no 13eme salary at all. So, it suffice to believe I won't get any :/
Does it not say over how many months you will be paid?

Here's another clue, take your yearly salary, divide it by 12. Is that how much you are getting paid per month? If so, you don't get a 13th salary.

If not, try the same thing but divide by 13.

The 13th salary is not extra money. It's just you yearly salary paid out in 13 installments instead of 12.

Thanks. Your answer was clear and simple. So, I make 60K per year (written on the contract) and I get 5k per month. I guess this settles it. There is no 13th salary. Kinda sucks I have to pay 30% tax & social security but not get a 13th salary to cover this up ... thanks anyway

There is no difference in the yearly amount, whether you get it in 12 or in 13 transfers. So nothing sucks as the amount still is the same.
If they had paid you in 13 instalments, the amount you receive now monthly would have been less.....

Re: Question about '13eme' salary

In fact 13th salary penalizes employees like you! You pay ca. 10% salary tax every month and there will be only small tax difference (if any) between 5000 CHF salary (12 times) and 4615 CHF (13 times). Now you imagine that in December you get two salaries (if you have 13 salaries a year) --> you pay tax out of 9230 CHF and it will be drastically higher. For Swiss people it does not matter since they pay tax once a year and 13th salary is meant to cover the annual tax if you have not saved money during the year

Actually it is better for you to get 12x than 13x - as long as you are taxed at source and earn below 120k.

No you won't then.
The entire thread - at least taking the title - is kind of futile then?

Looks like it's sorted then. However, I don't understand why you didn't go and ask HR before asking us.

EF is like a pub; After the fourth beer you start asking things that are on your mind. The only difference in a pub is that he throws a round if you tell him yes, you'll get a 13th salary (who cares if the info is wrong, after all he could have asked HR).
On EF you just wonder what this was all about.
