Why? Care to elaborate?

I work full time, I pay my taxes I break no laws .. is it hard to expect to be treated equal to you? Or are you saying I can go out tomorrow and start throwing stuff at people with no ramifications?
No need to elaborate, you made your mind up. The teacher is a racist who performed an act of blatant agression without remorse towards you based on your color. You already seemed to have had a nice talk with your fellow students who fully agree with you and of which one would even have attacked him.

Just go to the police tomorrow and file a case, and please let us know what they told you.

Could just be a Suisse Romande
Based on the profile, yes. But:

It does not matter if I grabbed my phone or got on the table and started dancing. The person at the other end has the right 1) to warn me 2) to tell me to get out ... he did none of those thing but THREW A DAMN PEN TOWARDS ME .. i could have been injured. I don't know how anyone can downplay the action of this guy.

Imagine you were sitting on that place and you hold your phone and looking at it someone throws a pen from distance towards you infront of people ... i very much doubt you wouldnt be enraged
Totally agree with you. He's an imbecile whose behaviour deserves to be exposed and reprimanded. Report him to his managers.

Yep, I can believe it has a racist substratum as he obviusoly thought you don't deserve a civilised warning. However, you can't play this card, let those who can make appropriate decisions draw their own conclusions. And don't expect (much) sympathy on EF. Good luck.

Re: How can I report a racist incident/assault and where?

I have seen black people being harassed by the police in Zurich for no apparent reason on a near daily basis since I first set foot here. A few years ago they started harassing the middle-easterners too. And that's not to mention the Confederate flags I see flying in the Waldkantonen...

Is Switzerland racist? Sure, to its core. Does this story have anything to do with racism, aside perhaps from the fact that you (like many others) have internalized that seeing every "microaggression" as racism benefits you? Not from what anyone here can see...

If you choose to live here deal with the fact that many of the locals are awful and that if you are black they may not like you for it (stupid as that may be)...no one is making you stay though

Re: How can I report a racist incident/assault and where?

For an adult to feel it's acceptable to throw an object at another adult as a means of "discipline", there has to be an element of disresepect.

So yeah, I'd say it was probably racist. As was suggested upthread, though, don't mention that in your complaint. The act itself was bad enough. Let people draw their own conclusions.

Should have thrown the pen back at him.

Make a complaint and forget about it, best thing you can do now.

You have to be pretty clueless to view Confederate flags anywhere outside of the US as racist.

There was a time in switzerland where it was quite common that the teachers throw stuff at pupils. Some teachers even had tennisballs on their desks for this. And this is not some 50 years ago.
Sure there is an element of disrespect, it just doesn't need to be linked to his skin colour. Maybe this teacher has thrown a lot of pens in his "career".
One reason more to report this unacceptable behaviour to his Supervisor.

I think if the teacher had thrown a banana instead of a pen then it may have been construed as racist.

It doesn't need to be - but it almost certainly is.

Can you imagine this joker throwing an object at a forty year old white guy called "Peter" or "William"?

Nope, but I can imagine him throwing stuff against a 18 years old Peter or William (don't know the age of op)
I am a teacher with pupils around 16-20 years, and I had the urge to throw things more then once in the last years (I didn't do it ofc). It would have hit some very white, middle class boys and Girls.

There's still a high probability, though.

Unfortunately I have to agree here. Some 15/20 years ago I had a teacher in high school who used a bamboo stick to remove baseball caps from students. To be fair, I even know an American Prof. who occasionally has thrown things at students during oral exams. I guess it might me a generational thing.

If you think of this interms of teacher/student as in old wise teacher and the young naive pupil then it might be acceptable to some extent to throw a pen at a pupil .. but according to our self introduction at the beginning we are both grown up and fathers in this context. I am actually 1 year older than this man who is a father of 2.

So it's not like adult trying to hush pupils, this was an assault

Exactly!

Throwing an object at a black adult is like addressing him as "boy". It's an exercise in power = textbook racism.

it could just be that he despises all foreigners, whatever the skin color.
There very likely is some racism at play but of course would be impossible to prove.

He threw a pen at you because you were on the phone. He didn't grope you, smack you or call you offensive names. Honestly, I'm beginning to fight an urge to throw a pen at you too and I really don't care what colour, gender, race, religion or age you are.

Report him and be done with it. You won't find peace until you do it.
