I have nothing but extraordinary experience with Galaxus. Not only insanely fast shipping. I bought a ring light for my web calls, and after 4 or 5 months of use it suddenly stopped working. I claimed the warranty, and I got an instantaneous full-refund, no questions asked.

I can attest, galaxus is really good. Much better than amazon. Just for the customer support it's worth the money.
Contact amazon is like the "The Twelve Tasks of Asterix"… you really have to go deeper into Amazon site to finally find a message box where you can contact them is you have a problem.
With Galaxus the experience is the oposite.
Of course I order sometimes from Amazon because I can't find some items on Galaxus, but if the price difference is not abismal I prefer much more Galaxus.

I guess it's what you are used to... I find galaxus shipping reasonably average.
Then again, I was spoilt by Amazon UK - same day delivery on most items, and 2-hr delivery on some items.
Free returns, no restoccking fee. Really simple refund process, and they send a courier to your house to collect the return if you want...
I really hope amazon expands in CH...

Checked the item site, saw that there's a guarantee of 2 years.
Went to my account page > then help > then contact us > and then had to choose with which order I have a problem, choose a problem (bottom), got chat person and explained what happened, got a replacement in a minute. Yes, it took me longer to navigate than to ask for help, but this navigation really isn't something I'd consider 'going deeper'.
Try get a real person with paypal
Granted, I went first through my orders and looked if there's a button to ask for help there (for some newer orders something exists, like 'get support'), but then I did this above. Really pleasant experience. Happened 2 weeks ago.

'menu'>customer service>Contact us. Three clicks.
You then select the item and the issue etc and you have the choice of email telephone or webchat.
As long as you remember that you can't do it directly from 'my orders' it's very very easy and I've had nothing but positive experiences.

Just got an email from AMazon specifically about Switzerland:
English: | Quote: | | | | | | | | | German: | Quote: | | | | | | | | | Seems like they are really stepping up the game now to actively make things more comfortable for Swiss shoppers!

Slightly annoying, for those of us with good French and mediocre (or less) German that it seems to be only the German operation that's doing this, not the French.

I ordered something a couple of months back that was below 65CHF and wasn't charged Swiss VAT by Amazon. This week I ordered something for 45 eur and *was* charged Swiss VAT by Amazon. Seems they might be adding VAT on all sales now?
Incidentally, the first thing I then sent to the UK, declared it as a used item at half the value and all in it was 2/3rd the price of buying in the UK.

I ordered something a couple of days ago from Amazon.de and kept it in Euros to keep it under the 65 CHF limit by a couple of francs.
If I had ordered in Swiss francs rather than Euros, it would have been about CHF 65.50.
If I understand the email posted by Chuff, I would not have had to pay additional VAT or import duty if I had paid in Swiss francs at CHF 65.50.
Is this correct?

But should I have paid in Euros as I did, or Swiss francs?

I used to use amazon (FR DE UK) a lot but hadn't ordered for maybe a year or two ..
Two weeks ago i ordered a cook book from .de and after a rigmarole about not subscribing to prime and choosing currency etc etc .. I managed to place the order.
Checked the status today and it was still at the status of 'order placed' - 'we'll send an email when it's ready to ship'
This is for an item supplied by amazon and described as 'in stock' .. So i just cancelled it. I can get stuff quicker from wish.

There was an amazing service called bookbutler (bookbutler.com).
Provide it an ISBN and a delivery country, and it would compare all the major amazons (UK, USA, etc), and rival firms (WHsmith, alibri, etc) and find the cheapest copy of the book....
Amazon bought them and shut them down...

Is there a way to filter those companies or entities of Amazon that will ship to CH? I'm still finding it a little hit 'n' miss e.g. some items only reveal their lack of Swiss delivery when you go to your basket and try and complete the order. I have German Prime if that helps.

For me, when I view an item on Amazon.de, it tells me on the item page in red letters up in the right hand corner that "This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location" -- so I can become aware that it doesn't ship here before actually adding it to my shopping cart.
