Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

Since they will be charging VAT even though it will be coming from Germany, does that mean we won't get dinged with the custom taxes for orders over the custom limit (50 chf or whatever it is)?

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

amazon so far always deducts german VAT and add Swiss VAT (if over 60 CHF).

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

Does this mean I can order anything from Amazon now, or still hit the "Doesn't deliver to Switzerland" roadblocks?

Might be just whatever is fulfilled by Amazon.

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

I hope this works, but I remain skeptical that they will actually be able to get packages through Swiss customs in the promised time to meet expedited Prime delivery.

Every single time I have chosen (and paid a premium for) Amazon Global I ended up getting the 'so sorry, package is with Swiss Customs, out of our control' message. Instead of two day delivery promised it can end up being two weeks. I might as well have saved myself the expedited delivery fee. In fact, the books I order via normal delivery usually show up faster than those ordered via Amazon Global expedited delivery.

So good news if this actually comes to pass, but I'm not holding my breath...

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

Which prime would it use? I shop on .de .fr and .co.uk

Is it one prime fits all ?? I think it's different primes, although I use the same login for each, the .fr and .de still offer me to sign up for the 30 day trial of prime whilst the .co.uk does not.

I am signed up for prime in the UK.. I use it to send gifts to relatives etc but it doesn't help at all for the familiar "this item does not ship to switzerland" nonsense.

Do you have separate Prime accounts?

I have Prime at .com, but .de and .uk do not seem to recogize it. (Same log in for all.)

I use the same login at co.in, .de and .com, was told by Helpdesk that Prime is different for each territory.

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

Hi,

for me I hope it means Amazon Prime video will be available here without need for a vpn/smartdns and that you can also rent videos from amazon and stream them here.

I think I will just continue get things sent to Las Burg in Weil am Rhein.

Have fun
Martin

No, I only have .com and prime free shipping at .it or .de works fine. Prime Video is another matter due to IP...

Depends on what you are talking about. If it's Prime Video then yes, it's different. On the other hand Prime free shipping works for me on .it and .de, and my account is .com.

Just did a quick test.

I have Prime at .com

Orders at .de do indeed qualify for free shipping to Switzerland.

Orders at .co.uk only qualify for free shipping within the UK.

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

There were also some articles about a possible amazon.ch but no real sources mentioned, probably fake news with the random opinion of a consultant. It would be based on the German amazon.

Re: Amazon Prime [delivery] coming to Switzerland

It'd be great if .de, or any of them for that matter, started shipping to CH. I tried the book delivery a few times and it worked o.k. and then, suddenly, everything go routed through customs and I quit using that option. In fact, I haven't looked to see if there even is still a Ship to Switzerland option on my Prime.

The Customs duties issue is interesting to me as well.

Just to clarify. For Prime users, Amazon offers free shipping for products delivered in the country where the warehouse of these products is located. In the case of Switzerland, I think it's an exception to the rule because its close to Germany.
