Apart from the new automated machines at border control I didnīt notice much difference as a tourist
My passport holds this new system: biometric one, and some aeroports in South American, as Brazil, Argentina, etc, have also automated machine to make control, when I traveled Argentina It was already like that and I returned to Brazil, too.
I think there is no more different for a boarder control between citizens and tourists at least holding a biometric passport.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

I don't know if this is a high or a low:

This year I have become more and more acutely aware of the passing of time - and it's implications.

Time moving on is a good thing, as evidenced this last Thanksgiving when we had all four generations of the family together. Seeing the young'uns starting to bloom into adulthood, setting off on their own doing amazing things, gives me so much hope for the future.

Yet at the same time there is a bittersweet feeling. Each milestone forward also marks the time remaining. And the world seems to be spinning ever faster...

Have nothing profound to say, but "same here".

I know that my daughter chose to study 'Business Information Systems' for example, and that I have no chance against someone like her on the job market (am currently there).

But I played a part in it, despite all odds, and that's wonderful.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

Great Q
...hmmm there're so many awesome things, id say starting my own 'Health Coaching' business last year is def one of them.
...a low, although it turned into a great opportunity for growth, was when my daughter was struggling big time at Kindergarten.

Notice, the little one is standing strong in spite of the headwind

Still, I had a great year. I experienced something very strange but hey, it surely was interesting, had lots of fun, laughed a lot, learnt a lot and I can say I'm very content with 2017.

Hope you feel the same?
Well, 2018 is done and point one and two are still the same as last year.
Point three might be too but the shouting and spitting of the EU kind of lost it's effect.

As most people seem to think that midnight tonight is gonna make all the difference (while I think once one has done it 20 or 30 times it gets unspectacular) - how was your 2018? Had a good time? Any highlights? Glad it's over?

Mine was kind of mellow. No extreme ups yet no downs either. As this is rather unusual for me I admit I enjoyed that. I'll have an other one of those. I met a few people who were seriously worth meeting and I hope they'll stay in my life as they're not the dead serious type and make me laugh a lot.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

My highs are gaming related again. Getting the announcement of a 2nd expansion for Grim Dawn in March and then a couple of days later being asked if I'd like to become a moderator on their forum. Plus learning how to be the owner of my own forum: titanquestfans.net. Just over a year old now and growing daily.

Nothing really low.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

Landing THE rarest of rare jobs after almost a year of applying (at least in my line of work) a job that would, if I played my cards right, almost guarantee a livable pension.
That was the high and the low was losing again it five months later because my superior wasnīt "feeling" it.
Whatever that means.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

Wow, difficult to put into words.

A lot of turbulence job-wise as Employer tried to out-source many functions to India, here and off-shore, then recapitulated.

But was a brilliant year overall!

High point. Positive and unexpected pregnancy test result.

Low point. Knowing something isn’t right. Visit hospital. No heartbeat. Could not miscarry without medical intervention on Boxing Day.

A shitty end to a challenging year.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

Hard moment for was between launching some strategies to make my students attend next step to a higher degree with scholar success and many hours studying my admission exam to work for local government; Despite all of low moments, I could get all of this: to see me a new work contact and to see my students crying to have a continuous way in due to the scholar success. So, it was my noble mission for humanity.
