Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

high: Finally retiring with my family in Locarno/TI after 25 years of working in the USA.
low: missing corresponding flight Washington to Zurich with 3 cats on the plane.
That's for 2018.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2018?

High: I've become more mature or it's just a mid-life crisis

Low: I confused the month with day when reading the validity date of my fare card so I got caught surprised and paid 100 CHF contemplating the theory of chaos in the universe

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

Looking at other's posts, my 2018 lows weren't that low, and my highs weren't all that high either.

My high for 2019? I made a whole batch of jam tarts, just like my mum used to make.

My low for 2019? I ate a whole bunch of jam tarts, just like my mum used to make. Now my stomach is upset, my beard is all sticky and I'll probably not make jam tarts again.

(probably)

High point. Positive and unexpected pregnancy test result.

Low point. Knowing something isn’t right. Visit hospital. No heartbeat. Could not miscarry without medical intervention on Boxing Day.

A shitty end to a challenging year.
We are all very sorry to hear that.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

speaking about things in perspective: 2018 made me face the lowest of my life thus far - a loss of a family member. Being remote at that moment made it whole lot worse to come to terms with.

"And say farewell forever! When you leave for just an instant!"

On the bright side: I led and delivered a project at work, which gave me a helluva confidence and resulted in 3 offers and a nice pay-raise.

Healthy new year everyone.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

High 2018: moving house, kid#3 finishing voc. training as 3rd best and studying now for bacc. and bachelor later on,me growing some balls (even if I am female :P)

Low 2018: my own stupidity at trusting people too much, nothing new there, it's a birth defect really and will cause me falling flat onto my face many times still, at least until I die.

Hopes for 2019.... just that all my loved ones stay healthy and have a good year, inspiration for me to write more again as well as keeping up love for hookery :P et al , making new friends at new place of living, finding new hunting grounds for foraging at new place of living. That's all really!

Quoting my own posts. Probably bad form.

I couldn't return to this thread since I made this post. Thank you for the kind replies.

And life takes a strange direction at times. My wife is pregnant.

All is well so far and we're going to have a son in November.

Holy cow, I feel old.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2019?

as a high I got my discipline wrt learning back on track - did a number of courses and expanded my skill-set.

as a low: choosing to involve police in relation to a verbal assault and ending up regretting that bitterly. I was under the impression that in this almost ideal country the officers are there to serve and protect. Turned out they can be reluctant, unpreofessional, time-wasting and downright mean. On day 1 they started to imply that I was somehow in the wrong too and carried out the "investigation" this way. Not to check on what I have reported, but to shelter the agressor.

I was always very respectful and collaborative towards the police, switching on the lights in the car while approaching border checks etc., this bit of my Switzerland died for me. They really favor bünzli style here.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

I was gonna wake up this thread of mine and saw that HIAO knew his high in August already!
Belated congratulations and I'm happy for you.

Trying to figure out my high and low of 2019 I realize I didn't have any significant ones. Of each. It was unusual smooth sailing this year.

While it is not a new thing to me, I did have this "feeling happy for no friggin' reason" more often than ever though. I think it's the best one as it can't blow up on you, it comes from within.

I'm in the mood for a dazzling high once again though. Who knows, I might be able to materialize one in 2020

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

Sure we've got a similar thread for 2019 somewhere, but I can't find it.

Anyway, high for me was travelling over to Boston and having a meet up with some of my fellow playtesters and a few people from Crate Entertainment.

Low: getting an e-mail from our neighbours in the UK to say they were hearing a strange sound from our house. Travelled over on Friday, 13th December to discover we'd had a water leak from the tank upstairs that had brought the kitchen ceiling down. Will still be sorting that out in 2020.

Re: What was your high - or low in 2017?

EE's high, without any doubt was our wedding in October, closely followed by my first full gardening year here

The lowest of the low.....after 5 years without any hitch and me embracing them as if they were my own, the 2 (grown up) stepkids showed their real faces ..................long story short, we got married all the same!
